Just wondering if anyone has tried the Electo Harmonix KT88's or the Sovtek's compared to the JJ KT88's in their ProMod and what the differences were.

To my ears, the Sovteks have a high end thing going on. they seem brighter to me. The JJ's are darker and seem to have a bigger bottom end. The high end isnt as bright so that probably makes the bottom end sound bigger. I havent tried a EH tube yet. maybe one day!! This was a comparison in a JTM 45 I built a while back and was messin with 6L6 family tubes.. I ended up using the JJ's then I went to the chinese KT66's everyoe was braggin about nah... I didnt like them very well. I did like the 88's better. but thats my ear. hope this helps a little :-) |

badass!!!!! I still got it, don't know if its gonna leave if you catch my drift... I love it. It is about two weeks away from an anvil case and a hard life if no one buys it...It'll be mine, that sure does suck doesn't it....

I thought EH KT88's were relabeled Sovteks anyway...
So there shouldn't be any tonal difference.
