i finally got the chance to really put my pro mod through its paces since getting it a couple weeks back and here is my take on it,IT RULES!!(i could end this right now but i won't)i see more and more people asking if this amp will do the heavier stuff so this one is for you!! i play ALL HEAVY STUFF, PERIOD!!(i also tune a full step down at least when fooling around with my own stuff!)some examples-walls of jericho, terror,i killed the prom queen,no innocent victim, sick of it all, sworn enemy, killswitch, shadows fall, etc, etc, etc.and this amp does just fine!! it took a little getting used to since it sounds A LOT different than my mesa triple-recto but different in the best way possible.no muddy, floppy bottom end,no noisy gritty gain, just insane tone.i have been running it second gear,OD #2,gain dimed and this thing barks at you like a angry pit bull!!and when i want to go overboard(which is all the time) i kick it into third gear and it brings a smile to my evil face!!even with the gain dimed in third gear it still has clarity!! GOBS AND GOBS of gain but still maintains clarity!!this thing sounds good at bedroom levels(although my bedroom volume is probably a little louder than most--LOL) but,i got the chance to run it at about 10 o'clock the other day when the neighbors weren't home and HOLY SH*T!!!it almost tore the paint off my walls. the volume has about a one number turn increase before the volume jump grabs but when it does it is REALLY TOUCHY!! after the initial increase it has a nice smooth increase from there(that is not to say it doesn't get loud in a hurry, because it does,REEEAAALLLYYY LOUD!!i can not stress enough how much this amp kicks my a*s on a daily basis,it makes it fun to play again since i am now happy with my tone!!i can't wait to try out some of the different pickups i got, since this thing sounds great with my emg 81(i just personally find emgs to be a bit sterile sounding and bring no additional flavor to the party)if it sounds this good now it might make me grab my chest and say this is the big one Elizabeth,I'm coming to join you honey,(sorry about the Sanford and son reference but i just couldn't help my self) build construction is also TOP NOTCH!! as i told tree on the dukes website,i thought it would look kinda cheesy with the flames but boy was i wrong!! it looks mean!! this thing is built like a tank!!really solid, great craftsmanship!!in closing, i will try to put some clips up soon to show the crunch monsters out there that they need to look no further,it is right here!! it was well worth the wait(which in it's self is saying something--LOL) and i would like to thank Scott and everyone else who worked on my amp for doing such great, great work!!

Right on Brian, thanks for the review!
I saw on the reviews for the Pro Mod amp at Harmony Central that someone had stated that this amp "does metal right" and I think that is true. I am not a metalhead but I dabble in it and I know what that means.
I had owned the Mesa Dual Recto for 2 years and there is no comparison. You just can’t compete with the tightness and clarity of this amp all the while still retaining an aggressive tone. I tried explaining this to someone on here before that was asking if this amp can do metal. It does it ike a champ. Yes, it does take some getting used to after playing loose, flabby, muddy amps but that is a good thing!
You play the same settings as me, 2nd gear, OD2, gain dimed. That seems to be the sweet are in this amp. Glad you are enjoying it now put some clips up!

The only one I saw was with Tool, Megadeath, Sevendust, Limp Bizkit, Coal Chamber and some others. That Tool performance in 1996 or whenever it was still remains the best live performance I have seen.

I have a Bogner Uberschall and have recently stumbles across these Splawn Amps. My amp is a beast but it's really good for one thing...punishing metal!! I like playing Opeth, Arch Enemy, Judas Priest, Satriani, blues etc. The clean channel with a nice O/D pedal sounds great but it's not as versatile as my "dream amp" would be. Any comments for metal, rock versatility is appreciated.

I could never justify paying that much for something that only does one thing well. There just seems to be chaper options. As for the Pro Mod, I love the verstility in this amp even though it is a simple layout. Gear 1 does a great classic rock / blues sound. Gear 2 does an amazing rock/hard rock/metal sound and for anything over the top there is Gear 3! It may not be as saturated as the Uber but the tone is aggressive and beautiful at the same time. I stand behind this amp 100%
