Hey guys. I currently have a Peavey XXX and I HATE it with a passion (too muffled, ultra channel is useless, and not very loud in a band context) and I think it's time to step up to the Pro Mod. I LOVE the tones of the guitars on the Warrant cherry pie album and old school zakk wylde no more tears era. I play in a metal band though so I need a pretty healthy amount of gain on tap, I had my XXX a little over halfway. Basically I want the HOT RODDED 800 sound with enough gain to do modern metal like Killswitch Engage and stuff like that. Do you think this would be the right amp for me?

The Pro Mod nails the hot rodded JCM800 sound! That's it thing it does best. I have heard many people using it for metal and loving it. I do some metal with mine and it sounds great. I can't really comment on the bands you mentioned because I don't listen to them but I thin you would be very pleased with the Pro Mod. If you search around there should be some clips of the Splawn doing metal.

Phil's (dropthisd) clips are great representations of some of the metal you can get out of it. I was able to get some nice metal tones out of my old Quickrod, but I think the PM will be even more to my liking for that stuff.

They have some great metal tones. The reason I went with the Pro Mod is so I can do metal tones if necessary. I LOVE drop-D tones out of this thing!
