i have heard about splawn amps and amp mods for a while now and i liked what i heard about them.it wasn't until i saw stuck mojo recently that i found out that this amp has THE TONE!! i was blown away from what i heard coming out of Rich's cabs.i told him after the show that i have been thinking about getting one and that he had just made my decision really easy, i literally sold my mesa boogie triple rectifier two days after the last show i saw!! i will be ordering my pro-mod asap if you have any questions about what these amps can do, hear one in person and be ready to sell what ever you own now.my only question now is reliability, how prone are these to malfunctions??i have seen a few threads on here about tube and fuse problems and was wondering if this was a few isolated instances or if they were a little on the fragile and temperamental side. later and thanks brian

scott's amps are no more prone to malfunction than any other amp
IN FACT, I'd be willing to say that they're more reliable than most major brands that Iv'e played
they're bulletproof, dude =)

I had a tube prob, but like shreder mentioned, no more than any other amp. I had to replace the tubes in my mesa dual rec 10 days after I had it. bummer, but it happens. I had to wait 2 weeks to get them from Mesa. ( I had to buy my own replacements while waiting). with the splawn, the coolest thing is the support! when something happens you can call splawn and they WILL fix you up! and In a hurry in some cases. Best support on a amp I have had.
I recieved my replacement tubes and havent had another problem. I've owned the amp 8 months now.
+1 the limited lifetime warranty.
I wish Rich the duke ward would play somewhere around here... that had to be a great show.

I have never had a problem with my Pro Mod yet after being the second owner and having it for about 4 months. Welcome to the PM club man!

also,i have a mesa 4x12 traditional(smaller sized) cab with the vintage 30s in it.i loved the way this sounded with my boogie over the Marshall 1960a with the g12-75s in it.will this cab sound as good with the pro mod??i also used to run a Zack wylde mxr distortion pedal in front of my boogie as a drive boost with very little gain added(like Adam from killswitch and many others,it seems to compress the sound and add a little oomph to it) has anyone tried this pedal or this tactic with the pro mod??

I would have to say that I get poor results with the PM and the Mesa 4x12. The studio we practice at during the winter has one and I never like the way it sounds. It's very muffled and dark and I think those cabs only sound good with Recto heads. That studio also has Marshall cabs with GT75's and the PM sounds much better with them. I have a Bogner cab w/ V30's and it sounds better than both of those. As for the pedal in front of the amp, I tend to not use my TS-9 much because it just sounds so great with out. I don't like the bass loss the pedal gives though the added grit and comperssion is cool for solos sometimes. My guess is that most people with Splawns end up not useing dirt pedals but it's all personal opinion.

i guess i should re-name this thread made the jump!! i ordered my pro-mod today and now i just have to wait until it gets here. i went with the hot rod flame graphics with the black tolex,chicken-head knobs and 6550 tung-sol power tubes instead of the kt-88s, so my neighbors will have 6 weeks of peace until my splawn tone war will rage!! ;D ;D ;D!!!!!!!!!!!!!

anyone out there have any suggestions on settings for my pro-mod when i get it??i want to try some different sounds out and i wanted some different opinions on this.i know that I'll end up fine tuning it to my personal taste but i figured i would get some input from you guys as well. when i saw Rich's amp settings from stuck mojo, his was pretty close to the way i usually have all my amps set (pres.8-9/ bass 6-7/ mids 4-5/ treble 7-8/master vol 2-3/ gain 10/ second gear. what are your favorites??

Just depends on the room where I'm playing. Normally I run the bass really high and the treble and Mids very low. That's just me though.
