I got to crank up the Pro Mod last night at practice. HOLY $%@%!!! It's just outrageous. It's so pummeling and articulate. It cuts like a mother. I had the Volume up to 12:00 and it was like Armagedon. Our Bass player wasn't there, but we didn't miss him. He will be there on Sunday though. Can't wait to see his expression. My drummer was thoroughly impressed.
I dropped the pickups on my LP and that helped a little bit with the clean channel. I have been tweaking with my effects too which is helping, but wont be good when I switch back and forth between my XTC and Pro Mod, but oh well. The Pro Mod will most likely be my main rig anyway. Just when the XTC thought it was going to get out of the house after I got rid of the Uber, denied!
I am really interested in the RS Guitarworks True Tone kit. Anyone have these in their Les Paul? Anyone tried the Metal? What are the differences in the sounds from the different kits?

Funny you mention the bass player...ours had this nasty little habit of bumping his mids throughout practice. All that crap ended when I got my Quickrod...I pushed my bass up to about 4:00 and my mids at 3:00...he vanished in the mix. Our first gig with my new rig...soundguy comes up to our bass player and said "hey man, you're gone in this mix...your guitar player is killing you. How about you turn down your mids and bump your bass so I can do my job???"
Freaking priceless.
As for the RS Kit...(I know I've been pimping this), it isn't the end all be all, but it really can help clean up and help articulate that neck pickup. (It will do the same with the bridge pickup, which may or may not be desireable.) The metal kit comes with a 1000k CTS pot, which might be too bright for your taste. IMO, you could run with that and if you don't like it just spend another $5 bucks or so and pick up a 500k pot to replace it. The other thing you could try is splitting the neck pickup with a push-pull pot.
I'm going to do what ever it takes to check the ProMod out in Corning!!!

It would be great if you can make it to the Corning show at Lando's on April 28th. I will be playing not only with my band, but I will also be playing a couple tunes with the headlining band.
Thanks for your advice on the electronics. I might have to try it sometime.
