Pulled the tubes from my PM today. Not sure why, guess I was bored. Do the pins need to line up in a certain way, or can I just put em back in any old way ? Thanks

they can only go in one way..power tubes usually have a notch on the plastic peg..pre amp tubes can usually go in any way though.

WELL....If you broke the center guide (off ALL the power tubes) you can usually still see a notch remnant. Line that up with the notch in the chassis tube socket. If ANY one of the power tubes still has the guide pin...use that as a referance and note how the writing on the tube lines up.
The preamp tubes can only plug in one way...a D-configuration. Now...never do this again and go clean that room young man ! ;D "Insertion ?" Huh huh...uhhh...huh...heh he heh he

Ok, so I'm all up in there, spreading everything around, can't seem to find the notch. I really wanna stick it back in, put I'm afraid if I stick it in the wrong hole something bad might happen. huh huh huh huh huh ( voice of Chef ) just find the notch kids. Seriously though, if i put the tubes back improperly can I cause any damage. I havent triple checked for notches on the sockets yet but I don't remeber seein any.

ya.. you stick it in wrong,, and you will put 500 volts to something thats isnt made for it.. and you will need some new tubes.. and maybe other parts too! get a flashlight out and look closely for those center pin base keyways.. ALL tubes go in ONE way. there are notches on the tubes,, fit that keyway in the tube sockets..

Thats what I'm talkin about. If the potential was to only damage a pair of tubes, it wouldnt be so bad. I'm more concerned with damaging any other components of the amp. I'll check it out again in the a.m. If I'm not sure I'll take it to someone who is.
