It's been a while since I posted something. i've been to busy moving. Anyway, this question mostly goes out to Shredder and Craig. First, you guys are the reason for me buying a Splawn in the first place. Second, i love your guys' tone!!! The videos from the both of you, just inspired me more to play. Now for the big i know that the PM's have to be turned up a little louder to get the tubes to break up. But, I noticed that your tones are similar in comparission. I can't seem to get it. The only way I can get it is by throughing my Boss SDO in front. My settings on the OD are very conservitive. Tone is 0. level is 11:00 and gain is between 10 and 11:00. As far as the gain setting on the PM, it's at between 1 and 2:00. Now, when I bought the amp, (pawn shop in Texas) no foot switch. Could it be set to OD1? The tubes aren't the best of shape (mismatched pairs). I find it that I have to SLAM the strings to get them to really ring out. I play custom BC Richs' with EMG's, set up for 18 volts. Seeing you guys play, it looks like your not fighting, but flowing.

Mismatched tubes tells me bias is probably off. tubes running too cold will not sound warm and you will have to crank it up to get the sound to " warm up" If it was me, I would have the amp checked and new set of tubes put in.
ya prob need footswitch to get OD-2.

it might very well be on OD-1 man..that could be part of the problem right there...and thanks for the props, dude! in fact, if you're running the gain that high and still having to put a pedal in front of it, I bet ya it is on OD-1.. scott can get ya a footpedal! also, listen to hacksaw..he knows a thing or two about amps

I had an older Pro Mod and you definitley need the footswitch to access od2 . that's the way all his amps are.... the thing is, it'll stay on whatever channel it was on the last time it was used....doesn't sound to me like it was left on OD 2 last time though

You're definitely on OD1 if you're having to run a pedal in front of the amp. I play through single coils most of the time and on OD2 it's a cake walk.

I switch between humbuckers and single coils. What can I say? I'm a big fan of the single coil pickup. I've got van zandt's in my Gold strat. They're the warmest p/ups I've ever heard. Plus they're double wound and are pretty hot p/ups. They make the Van Zandt, Vintage, Blues and Rock. Of course I have the rock pick ups. Kind of like Dimarzio's HS-3.
