Hello everyone. I was trying different preamp tubes with my Pro Mod and I found that the Sovtek LPS tubes sound great in this amp. They have a great high end peak witch matches well with the KT-88's.
Give them a try....

i just tried it and it sound awsome very nice, i also tried some electro harmonix and those had a nice vintage tone to it,next ill try some telefhunken flat plate ill let you guys know how that one sounded like. peace out.....

Hey J! When I had the promod I tried 3 JJ's in the preamp it sounded great as well. To answer your question about putting 34's in the Pro mod yes it can be done, email me at home if you want my amp guy's phone #. Ian

i tried those telefunken...they are sweat but not as good as the lps then i tried 2 versions of jj tubes the first one is a newer kind it sounded a bit dark had lotsa bass and punch but did not like it the other one is an older kind it came out of my ENGL thunder 50 and is labeled engl but it is a jj tube that one is staying in my #1 spot it was brighter then the other jj but not hash the mids are really nice and it as nice gain to it super nice preamp tube the best so far..so right now a have #1 older version jj #2 sovtec lps #3 lelefunken smooth plate and the amp sounds even bether then wen i first got it if that is even possible..LOL..
