i use a maxon OD-808 in front of my nitro with GREAT results!! it compresses the sound a little bit and adds a little more bite to the tone.it keeps all the splawn tone but adds a bit more oomph! i really like the way both of my splawns reacted with the maxon(i had a pro mod). i am using OD-2, gain at 3:00-3:30 and the OD on the pedal off with the balance (drive) dimed and it is BRUTAL! it really doesn't add more gain it just sounds like it pushes the pre amp a bit harder. the only other OD pedal i used was the zw-44 and i thought it added too much of it's own sound to the splawn, not just a kick in the pants.i started to have to blend the sounds with the zw-44 and the splawn to get where i wanted but with the maxon it is pretty much a splawn sound on steroids!!(sorry,i meant flax seed oil)

I use a bb preamp - which I like better than the maxon pedals as they are more transparent plus it is true by-pass. I put the gain at about 10:30 though when the boost is on. Level is about 2:00, gain off. Turn off the BB and with the gain a 10:30, you get pretty decent mid-gain tones. I usually am always on OD1.

I use a Maxon OD 808 in front of my Nitro on two of my guitars. If you have pickups that are high output, you may not need anything.I set the pedal with little or no gain and the balance all the way up and tone around 9.

The trick is to keepthe gain on the amp turned down. For me it's more for the feel and the fact that I get a low/mid gain tone without the BB engaged and a brutal, highgain tone when it is engaged. I like the BB better than other ODs Ive used because it is fairly transparent and does not alter the natural tone of the amp. Plus it is true by-pass when not engaged.

I dont think the nitro has an over the top gain in it.Not like a randall,or herbert,or mesa,ya know, for me i just want that lil extra creamy feel,if ya know what i mean, the bbe you use is that a pedal or rack?

it's a 482i rack.I have mixed feelings about the bbe.with the band it sounds killer just to give the amp a little push but I personally like the nitro on it's own when playing by myself.

I have a 482i rack in my bass rig, I put it thru the nitro...there wasnt really much difference,if anything it took somethin away from it....How about a zakk wylde overdrive,or a tube screamer
