Hey guys, got a couple of questions about the Nitro. Like all other splawn amps I think the Nitro sounds great (by the clips Ive heard) and might be interested in ordering one. Ive owned a Splawn modded Marshall (pre QR) and loved the sound of the amp but had to sell it, but the one thing that I didnt like was it always seemed like I was fighting the amp. It felt very stiff. I currently own a Marshall DSL 50 and I really like the feel of the amp but its missing something sound wise that my old splawn had. The DSL seems easier to play (the feel of the amp). I guess what Im asking is does the Nitro have a "looser" or more forgiving feel than the Quick Rod. All opinions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.
J.D.

J.D., the nitro definately has a smoother and saggier feel than the QR. it's got a bit more saturation and voiced a bit darker with a much bigger low end. it's still a very tight and percussive amp, but it is not nearly as "stiff" feeling as the QR. it's a great amp!

What Windsen is said above is dead on.I have owned Marshalls,Mesas,Line 6,Peavey,and a few other amps and nothing comes close to my Nitro. The thing is a beast, but it can be tamed as well.Meaning, you can roll back your gain and get everything from Skynryrd to ZZ top to ACDC to just about anything with a slightly overdriven sound and I guarantee it will sound ten times warmer than anything you have ever heard. The Nitro is tight, but in a good way.It has that sound that inspires you to play and if you have been playing long, then you know exactly what I am talking about. The sound that makes you forget the other things that you are supposed to be doing because you dont want to put the guitar down. Now thats what I have been waiting for!Anyway,I hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies. I was wondering if anyone can compare the Nitro with a Marshall DSL feel wise (sag, saturation). The reason I ask is the DSL is my most current amp and the easiest for me to refrence.

Well,I have never owned a DSL,but I have played one briefly and felt like it was lacking in saturation.I have owned a JCM 800,Mode Four, and a JMP-1 and probably much to your surprise the JMP-1 was the better out of all the Marshalls that I owned.I thought I had found my amp in the Mesa Dual Rectifier, but even after a while you I just knew it wasnt the amp for me.I dont know where you live, but my suggestion it to try and find someone close that has a Nitro and see if there would be anyway that you could check it out.I know it is frustrating to not be able to go into a shop and check one out and then to top it off, your wait is something like 10 weeks or more.Just a thought.

I'll have to agree, to a point about it fighting it. But, I find that the louder it gets, that's when it starts to loosen up. I'm more of a legato player, and the Nitro (in my opionion) is more staccato sounding. This is by no means a bad thing. It's a different animal. You just have to make it your own, and get to know it.

Thanks for the responses guys. Like I said the only reason that I am hesitant on buying is the feel of the amp and I know the only way Ill know is to play one myself. Thanks for all your help.
