I was wondering if anyone has tried mixing 2 - el34's with 2 - kt77's ? Since one is a direct replacement for the other I would think it should be ok to try it .

Mixing output tube types has been hotly debated subject for years. There are those people who swear it's okay and others that swear it's entirely stupid (asking to blow up your amp). What I can tell you is there's some requirements that MUST be met to even attempt mixing tubes. These can vary depending on the situation, so make sure you know your amp internals, know the specs on the tubes you're buying, and understand how all that plays into your particular application. In other words, unless you are somewhat tech-knowledgable and are also buying tubes from somebody who is knowledgable of your intended usage, then I'd seriously recommend NOT going down the path of mixing output tubes.
