Saw someone whining in a Youtube comments section that he got a Street Rod that had Chinese tubes in it (very likely) and a Chinese Celestion V speaker (I'm thinking that's BS).
I've been following Splawn for a while and it seems that Scott only puts Small Blocks or Creambacks in his amps. Maybe Big Blocks at one time but not a cheaper <$100 one.
Anybody know?
I'm betting he got it used and someone snagged the nicer speaker out of it and replaced it and sold it.

I’m not aware of the Celestion V being an option in the drop down on the Splawn website. Chinese tubes....yes that’s a known fact that, that is what Scott uses. I have no problem with that. In my experimentation I find that I like the Chinese tubes Scott uses the best.
Most likely scenario is what you said....somebody swapped the speaker out.

Yes, they are made in China but if I read the op correctly he is talking about Celestion V Type speakers, which Scott does not offer as an option. The creamback is a different speaker even though they would both be made in China.

Lol didn't catch that part about "v". Sorry been working 15 hour shifts and brain dead. LOL! Yeah the creambacks are great, the V speakers are some lower end replacement. I think most Celestions come from China these days. I think you can get an English made one but they're pricey. The Chinese ones sound great tho.

There was a big thread on Rig-Talk not too long about the Chinese V30s. The issue that was brought up was that mainly it is the metal used to stamp the frame of the speaker is crappy and will affect the tone negatively. Pretty sure I personally would not be able to tell the difference but I will also avoid Chinese products whenever I can - even though I know it is everywhere.
Also, don't quote me on this but I think Scott has access to lots of different kinds of speakers - more than what is shown in the drop down boxes.

Can confirm the English v30's are much better sounding. But yeah, cvogue is right they cost a bit. Not sure on the creambacks though.... haven't tried them yet but they sound great on youtube.
