2010 version. Heyboer trannies all around. Amp is too bassy cant put the bass above 9 oclock sounds woofy. Its not preamp tubes, powertubes, guitar, cabinet bias etc. all sounds good with my other amps. If i boost with a SD1 or other clean boost tightens up but still can't go above 9 o'clock on the bass control. Newer splawns I've tried don't do this. Anybody mod their splawn with a cap or resistor change or other component to tighten or lower bass? thanks.

I found the same thing with all my Splawn's that I owned. I talked with the guys here about it a few times. If i remember correctly, none of them found their Splawns to be bassy. I used an sd-1 to tighten it up before i sold them.

Yes it's been dead for long time. There are only 4 or 5 of us that use it once or twice a month now. Sad....

Just for sh!ts and giggles try plugging straight into your amp. When I first got my QR I somehow had my cabling wonky and (among other things) the bass response was way too much. One day, and I don’t know why, I plugged straight in and was amazed at how good it suddenly sounded. Plus I was able to control the bass frequencies better.
Obviously I went back and rewired whatever I had wrong and it’s been all good since.

Have you cranked it up? Rebias maybe. New tubes? Anyway. Call Scott? Not aware of any mods for this.

It's said that Splawns are unforgiving, and that's true, they don't cover anything up, I think this also means that their sound can be easily altered by something amiss in your signal chain.
