So if you see my troubleshooting thread, the first thing I did was plug straight into the amp and then went from there. One thing I noticed (maybe it's psycosomatic...) it seemed that just plugging straight in sounded better than going through my board which has a half dozen effects in front of the amp. A Boss compressor (buffered), tuner (hardwire bypass), Banshee (true bypass), phase 90 (true byass), 5150 overdrive (true bypass), colorsound wah clone (true bypass). Not necessarily in that order. I was thinking about getting a loop switcher like this: OneControl buffered loop switcher
or maybe a true bypass one like this: I added the Boss compressor at the beginning of my chain to get a buffer in there but if I'm going to bypass the board I wonder if I'll need a buffer, the One Connection box has a buffer, but we all know how Splawns react to lower end buffers! Anyway what do you guys have in front of your Splawn and do you notice a sound difference versus going straight in?

Also looking at the Boss LS-2... may be exactly what I need, buffered, the same price as the One Control pedal and it's Boss, which I know well, can't find anything about the One Control pedal out there... strange.

In front - Jimi Hendrix Wah into Fulltone Univibe, into Boss NS-1. From the NS-1 the send goes into a Red Llama, then back into the return, and then to the amp input. Haven't found any difference plugging straight in to the amp, but all my guitars are active so it's hard to tell.

I don’t have my board in front of me but I have several pedals that go into the front of my amp. They are all routed through a Musicomlab switcher. The switcher has 2 buffers. One is always on and the other can be shut off. I currently have it shut off. Only because it sounds exactly the same no matter what position it’s in. But when I wired up my board, I kept going back and forth between plugging straight in and going through the board. So I’m certain there isn’t any tone suck going on.

Guitar > Wah > Bad Monkey OD > EH Russian Big Muff > Phase 90 > MXR ABY > A goes to the Splawn and B goes to the Recotverb.
I don't think I hear much of a difference but obviously, the more stuff you put in front the greater the chances of something happening.
