I ended up selling my Nitro a few weeks ago instead of getting a new headshell. So I've decided to get a 50 watt Quick Rod or Nitro fully loaded or maybe the single channel and getting the standard Plexi type headshell. Any of you guys have the newer versions with all the options? The only issue that I had with my Nitro is it was really noisey when the gain went past noon. The Quick Rod needed a bit of a push to get to the amount of gain I wanted so I hope the newer models have a bit more gain. Both my amps where from 2010-11 so I know there has been some updates since then. I'm looking at 50 watts with the half power switch so I can actually get the tubes pushing before getting the cease and desist from the Mrs.

How are the add ons? I'm more interested in the mid cut and the B+ option.

The B+ is a must have. It adds a lot of feel and sag to it. Like a classic Marshall being pushed to the max.
The mid cut, for me is not necessary. But it brings the voicing closer to what the Nitro is. For you, it’s probably a good option. The old/new is subtle but the old setting is more aggressive to my ears. If I were to do it all again I would have skipped the mid cut option but would have gotten the other 2.
