I have been running some older greenbacks in x pattern with watchtowers by mojotone. The tone is really good but can get a tiny bit nassaly almost like a cocked wah. I have some et65's coming to try. Anyone ever run these with a QR ? If so how did they differ for you ? thanks, Tom

I have a cab with one ET-65 and one Vet 30. Honestly I haven’t used it much and the speakers aren’t really broken in yet. I really need to use it more. From what I understand they are basically a Creamback type clone.
Did you buy 4 or are you planning to mix them in your 4x12?

I used one with my QR and sounded very similar to my creambacks. Good speaker!

I have 4 coming, I can either run 4 or do x-pattern with either old original greenbacks or the watchtowers (g12c). I have some options. I have heard good things about them wanted to try em…

Yeah, and the prices are pretty damn good too. I think you’ve got plenty t conduct some.good experiments with. I wold bet the WGS paired with the greenies would sound killer.

X pattern with your greenbacks will be the ultimate tone! No question. All 4 will sound warm and smooth but x pattern with greenies will add bite a la van halen.

I will do some experimenting this weekend. Trying to smooth out a touch of the splawn bite w/o loosing the edge to cut through the mix...

I know what you mean. I ended up swapping in 250K pots into my LP and Kramer. I feel like it helped enough to make a difference.

The ET65's sounded okay without breaking them in they are a bit harsh/tight. I wound up breaking them in a bit with my Alesis drum machine for about 5 hours yesterday and then did some playing through them, much improved even though the breakin period will continue. Presently I have them in an X-pattern with the watchtowers I hope the Et's smooth out a lot more with use. The watchtowers are so far all around more even and smoother.

I have changed my pots in the Gibbys to a 300k Linear for the bridge and 500k audios (with treble bleed) for the neck when I play clean. I am not really a channel switcher I still turn down to clean up. The clean channel on the QR is kinda sterile for me just too blunt sounding unless I use a little compression.

I use a compressor to get some squish with the clean channel too. Blunt is a good description. The compressor really softened it up nicely. I use the Duncan vise grip.
