I was wanting to replace the headshell on my QR to a Plexi style but my current faceplate is white with black chicken heads and I would like to swap it out for a marshall syle gold or silver with round knobs. Do you guys know if it would be difficult to change and where I can get one. The FAQ on the Splawn site said they dont do control panels just headshells.

Well, I’m not sure...
I know companies like tubedepot have Marshall like panels for their plexi style builds. Maybe try them it another brand of diy plexi?
How is the Splawn panel attached? Do you know?
I believe the tube depot ones use 2 sided tape and the washers/nuts form the knobs themselves.

I'm not sure about how it's attached but after researching different Quick Rods I think I will just get a Plexi style but with maybe white piping. Saw a google image of one and I think it would work nicely with my cab and amp

I'm just not a fan of the flame style headshell but oddly enough both my QR and Nitro are in this style.

I’m not a huge fan of the flame box either.
I think the plexi with the white looks great!
The only difference with the can coloration is the gold piping but if you can live with that, then I think it’s a pretty sharp combination.
I was also thinking you could get the plexi head with gold piping but it might not match the faceplate very well..?
Then again the difference might be interesting too?

Yeah I thought black and gold piping but then I would need to swap the faceplate. If I had photoshop skills I could at least do a mock up.

Maybe the Plexi with gold piping and white faceplate might be ok? I'm going to pull the trigger on this sometime this month but I want to make sure it's something I love. I need to switch the headbox on my Nitro too but it has a black face. Soundwise I feel really happy with everything I just want to sort out the cosmetics.

I debated between the Nitro style headshell and the Super Sport shell (the V shaped cutout). I’m the end I went with the Nitro but I still have had for the the other one too.  Tough to see here but this is black with a silver center stripe with white piping and a silver face. The cab actually had silver piping but I feel it still matches fine since there is a lot of silver in the amp. |

As far as the plexi with gold...I think it would look good. The white wouldn’t take anything away from the look. It matches any other color, really.
And the rig would match that way too.
