Hey guys with a SPLAWN Quickrod 100. When you are in "HALF POWER" do all 4 of your POWER TUBES still glow? Thank you.

Yes, the outer two tubes will still glow Make sure you half your impedance out to cab though
Those outer tubes will not technically be in operation but the heater side of the circuit will still be in play. I believe Scott told me that if you plan to do it this way long term, as I do, then just go ahead and pull them to prolong their life and then rebias the amp.

Thank you for the reply. I appreciate it. I most likely will just run it 100 watt. I like the DropB+ ON too. Nice sag.

This brings up an interesting question. I know a 50 watter is drop b+ by default. If you put a 100W in half power does it become drop b+ too? I’d venture to say no.... Anybody know for sure?

How I understand it is a 50 watt is NOT Drop B+ by default. When you flip the switch of an amp with the Drop B+ it lowers the amps PLATE voltage to around 90 volts. Lowering the amps plate voltage makes the tubes behave different than at normal voltage giving you a bit of SAG to the overall tone. Its really more of a FEEL thing as the change in tone is very subtle.

I remember reading here somewhere that the 50w are in fact drop b by default. Of course, I can’t find it now!!
And I vaguely recall something about pentode vs tetrode blah blah...
Clearly I’m no electrical engineer...ha!!
When I switch my WR between drop B and non drop B the plate voltage goes from 490 to 425 (+/-). I’m not sure if it somehow actually alters the wall voltage that the amp “sees” from 120 to 90...?

I like my QR best on 100 watt and use the effects loop to bring down overall volume. I have tried the half power switch, but it does lose a small amount of fullness for me. I do not have the drop b+ on mine but it sounds like a great feature..
