Can you get an older QR upgraded with mods like with the B+? I would call and ask directly but I kinda dont want to do that until I would be ready to pull the trigger if its even possible.

Are you looking to get it “fully loaded” or just the B+?

B+ is really the main concern. If its possible I will get the mid cut and old/new switch.

B+ is really the main concern. If its possible I will get the mid cut and old/new switch. Don’t quote me, but I think the B+ mod is only $100. Well worth it IMHO. I have the other 2 mods as well. Personally I like the old/new switch. Both settings sound great but I prefer the old setting. I feel like it is angrier sounding. The mid switch....I never use it. I’m glad I have it in case I ever need it but so far I much prefer the stock QR sound. Iirc, all 3 mods were something like $350. Again, don’t quote me on the financials. Scott would be the guy to ask about that.

I’m no tech but I have read that a common mod in a Marshall is to change a resistor on the B+ for a voltage drop resulting in more sag. I always assumed that this mod from Scott was similar but switchable.

FWIW I had a 100 watt QR that was among the very first run of Drop B+ amps. It had dropped voltage, but not a switch. Just lowered plate voltage all the time. I inquired about adding the mid cut and old/new switches, but Scott was able to tell by the serial # that my amp was one of the last ones with the older style circuit board that would not accommodate the mid cut or the old/new switch. So shoot Scott an email with your serial # to confirm if he is able to do the mod.

He was able to tell by the serial.

I just got mine back at the end of October from having the Drop B+ added. It was a 2012 QR and it had to have the transformer replaced to do the mod. Unless I missed it reading through here very quickly, as a side note Scott got rid of the voltage selector and put the Drop B+ switch where it had been.
