I've had a Quickrod since 2011 and I'm recently getting back into using it regularly (had some tube and heater filament issues). I had a couple questions I was hoping the experts on this forum could help me with:
1.full/half power - basically you halve the resistance on the head for half power or multiple cabs, so a 16 ohm cab would be set to 8 ohms on the head. What about two 16 ohm cabs? On full power you would run 8 ohms and at half power 4 ohms?
2. Fx loop for amp slaving - I have a Garnet L190 bass head that is 50 watts. If this isn't loud enough for my 810 cab I'm assuming I can line out to the Return on the QR effects loop, correct?
3. If slaving two amps, should the fx loop master volume be disabled? Can it be run engaged?
Any insights would be appreciated, I realize some of these Qs may sound a bit odd.

Welcome to the Splawn forum.
I would say those are definitely questions for Scott.
Good luck.

Agreed. I have never tried slaving into an amp so I’m useless with these questions.

Same here......no idea but i will guess that the loop volume would have to be on bypass!

Thank you for the attempts to help me with this, I just want to make sure I'm not damaging my QR right after having it retubed and repaired! I have emailed Scott and can forward what he says in case anyone is interested.

I would like to see the response as well. Not that I do any of these applications you understand - just good to know I guess I'll throw my 2 cents out there for fun just as long as you understand I'm not blessing it and I'm not an amp tech nor a builder of one of the worlds most finest amps. 1.) Yes - 4 ohms 2.) Correct - if it is a preamp signal only 3.) It is just a linear taper so I would think it would be fine to use Edited for clarity

Scott emailed me back with a response. Turns out Splawndude is pretty close!
Here is the Q & A:
1.full/half power - my understanding is you halve the resistance from the quickrod on half power. So a single 16 ohm cab at half power would run at 8 ohms. What about two 16 ohm cabs? If daisy-chained or plugged into each speaker output, these would run at 8 ohms on full power and 4 ohms on half power?
A - You are correct on the half power.
2. Fx loop for amp slaving - I have a Garnet L190 bass head that is 50 watts and has a line-out installed. If this isn't loud enough for my 810 cab I'm assuming I can line out to the FX Return on the QR effects loop, correct?
A - #2 you are also correct.
3. If slaving to the quickrod, are there certain fx loops options that should be enabled/disabled? Should the line level switch be pressed for +4db? Should the fx loop master volume be disabled? Can it be run engaged?
A - Anytime the effects loop is activated the volume control will work. The pad switch is for matching effects on the loop from line or instrument level, it does not matter if you are only going into the return.
My main concern was that there would be some issue with slaving with the SS fx loop, but that doesn't seem to be an issue. It would appear the pad switch is also specific to running the full loop.
