New to this forum and wanted to start things off with my recent purchase of a 2010 QR. Had been wanting a Splawn QR for some time now and when this one came up on Reverb, I pulled the trigger. I gotta say this thing is everything I had hoped for and more. Up til now I had never seen a QR in person much less played thru one and relied solely on YouTube reviews. This thing does not disappoint. Absolutely the best amp I have ever played thru. I'm not a big fan of the Boa Tolex and have a new headshell being built as we speak. I ordered the Nitro Style with the Z28 striping option. I requested black Tolex with silver striping and silver piping. I'm replacing the black chicken head knobs with chrome ones to finish the look I'm wanting. I'm a HUGE Oakland (soon to be Las Vegas) Raiders fan, thus the silver and black theme. It came loaded with JJ KT77 power tubes and am thinking of swapping them back to EL34Bs to see which I prefer. Here's a pic I took the day she arrived.

Nice!!! Welcome to the forum. It’s been pretty slow here lately but the handful of us that are left are still happy to talk Splawn!!
If you gig, you may want to consider keeping the chicken head knobs...the round Marshall style can be hard to see on stage...but it’s all personal preference.
Tell us more about the rest of your rig.....cabinet, speakers, guitars, Fx....

Just received my new headshell for my recently purchased QR. As stated in my original post, I ordered the Nitro headshell with the Z28 striping option and had them use black with silver Tolex stripes along with silver piping. I replaced the black chickenhead knobs with chrome chickenheads to finish off the look I wanted. Being a huge Oakland Raiders fan for 40+ years, I think my QR's Raiders theme came out great. I'm running the QR thru a 4X12 cab loaded with V30s but after some research, I'm in the process of swapping out 2 of the V30s for Creambacks in an "X" pattern. I've purchased one Creamback and am just waiting for a good deal on a second. After that, I may try replacing the remaining V30s with either Greenbacks or Splawn Smallblocks. Here's a pic of the updated QR. Needless to say, the JVM 210H in the pic isn't getting much playtime lately!

If you don’t mind me asking....how much was the headshell to have built? I’ve been contemplating doing the same.

gtrjunior- I agree it could pass for the evil cousin. The original head, as seen in original post, was just like yours but in Boa Tolex. I knew from the get-go I was going to be swapping out the headshell - cost be damned! As far as cost goes, I emailed Scott with my ideas and his response was $250.00 for the headshell and $100.00 for the Z28 striping option plus shipping. I don't remember off-hand how much the shipping was. A bit pricey but when I saw the results it didn't matter- I got exactly what I envisioned and couldn't be happier. A quick question. In your post, how were you able to enlarge your photo? Because the pic in my original post is so small you're unable to see how well the chrome chickenhead knobs look against the black face plate.

I use tapatalk in my iPhone to post in forums. So that was a picture that was in my phone. When you post a pic it gives you several options (small, medium, large and best) options and I always just pick the “best” option.
