Guys,
Anybody using one of the Fractal Fx8 multi effects? I am wondering about others experience.
I've used the master loop volume for main volume but something doesn't seem right. When the loop is engaged it's just not that loud as when it's out of the loop. I've maxed the output on the effects unit as well. Don't get me wrong its loud but with a full band it needs to really crank up more.
I've been bypassing the loop and ot sounds awesome loud then engage loop and it knocks the Dbs down quite a bit.
I was thinking of this normal operation, maybe mod it with a zero loss effects loop from Velvety George.

OK, I'm a bit confused... you're using the loop volume control on the back of the amp as your master volume control (which we all do!) and you said when the loop is engaged it's not as loud as when the loop isn't engaged? And you have your Fx8 in the loop, correct?
First a quick sanity check... the loop volume is only active when the loop is active so when you've got the loop volume set at halfway and you disengage the loop via the switch on the back the amp will become house leveling loud! When you activate the loop via the switch then the loop volume is back in play. Could this be the volume drop you're hearing?
If (as I suspect) you've got the loop engaged, the loop volume is way up and your Fx8 is in the loop and you're not getting the volume you expect and your Fx8 output is cranked, then I bet you've got the +4/-10db switch in the wrong position. +4 is for line level, -10 is for instrument level. I'm pretty sure your Fx8 is line level so you'd likely want the switch on the +4 setting. If you're sending an instrument level signal to something expecting a line level signal you'll notice a big volume drop.
Just my 2 cents but hope this helps.

I’m a little confused as well but I think cvogue’s questions are what o would have asked as well. I think the first check id so is to take the fractal out of the equation and toggle the loop on and off. This was you know what volume drop to expect. Play around with the loop volume knob setting so you know exactly where you’re able to get your desired volume. Then plug the fractal back in without touching any of your settings and see if the level remains where you want it. I don’t really have any experience with that type of processor...I’m a pedals type of guy but it might be worth toggling between the +4/-10 settings too, as cvogue mentioned.
