O.K. - not sure what to do. Ive got a 50 QR Fully Loaded and just received my 50 watt Nitro Fully Loaded yesterday. Both are full size Plexi style heads with gold piping and gold control panels. Ive got a black straight front 4x12 with Salt-n-Peppa’ Grill cloth and Gold piping loaded with 65 watt Creambacks. Sounds killer with either head. I had been planning on having Scott cobble up another Straight Front 4x12 in Purple with S&P Grill and gold piping to match my purple QR and load it with Greenbacks: 55hz Greenies in the bottom and 75hz Greenies in the top. Scott says this combo would sound absolutely killer - especially with a 50 watt head in the Plexi mode. Would run around $1,150.00.
BUT ... today I discovered a Purple Splawn 4x12 with S&P Grill Cloth and Gold piping for only $750. It is in Uber clean condition. But its a slant and I have always preferred the additional ‘thump’ of a straight front and its loaded with 65 watt Creambacks - which is sort of what I already have. But the Creams sound great, the cosmetics are spectacular, and the price is really right.
SO ... do I jump on this deal? Or do I throw another $400 at it to have a straight front with the cool combo of 55hz / 75hz Greenbacks???

I really tend to agree. $750 is a great price for a cool 4x12 if you don’t have one. But it’s quite a bit for a slant cab with speakers you’ve already got when you’d rather have a straight cab with completely different speakers. Sounds like a purchase one would soon regret no matter how good the price was...

Creambacks are great speakers for QR paired up with greenies or equivalent but alone they don't break up and have as much bite as greenies.....especially with 50 watt.
I have 2 creamies and 2 greenies in my splawn 4x12 and it sounds awesome.

I say get the cab you really want. If not you will always have the “I should have gotten...” mentality. That said, back when I was a 4x12 guy I always preferred the slant cab. And I would have grabbed a pair of greenies and put them in an x pattern.
