So i haven't tuned down my guitar a half step in a long long time and did it the other day. It sounds so badass and ballsy.....i love it but the tension is so much less, it takes a while to get used to it.
Bends are so effortless now. When i play mean street now it is crazy how much better it sounds than reg tuning.
The low strings buzz a bit more but not through amp. Do any of you guys tune down and if so how often or long. I am afraid i will get used to playing so effortlessly and whenever i go back to 440 tuning ...i will struggle.
But it's so awesome!

The guys I’m playing with now tune down a 1/2 step. I have a few guitars that are setup in that tuning and a few setup for Standard. My #1 Les Paul is actually setup for Standard but it doesn’t give me any problems when I tune her down. But I 100% agree about how badass and friggin’ mean the QR sounds. Even palm muting some low chords just resonates differently.

The Splawns take low tuning so well. The articulateness and big trannies just does not allow this amp to flub out. I mostly riff around on Killswitch Engage type stuff so I'm in Drop C. My thick (.11) strings buzz a little around the lower frets but you can't hear it through the amp so I never worried about it (as much as that guitar, Schecter C+, could probably use a set up). Just sounds so yummy. I have to modify my playing (frets chords etc) a bit to some songs but this is my wheelhouse area. My modified fat Strat is in Step Down or Standard but it doesn't get as much play time.
But Briman - when I made this 'style change' a few years ago I was afraid of the exact same thing you were.
I adapted nicely. I put .11s in my Strat too. Now when I play a guitar with .09s I just can't handle how thin they are lol.

Lol yeah it's crazy how slinky the strings feel for vibrato and bends a half step down! I am afraid of becoming lazy and rarely go back to my standard tuned guitars lol.

Love it!! I usually have a guitar or 2 setup for AIC, etc. With a floating bridge, they need to be setup properly, especially a floating bridge.
