Hello all. I recently saw a new Nitro on Scott's FB page with the mini toggle switches just like the 'mid cut' switch and 'old-new' switch on the new(er) QRs. Scott replied on FB that the new Nitros have a 'Mid Boost' switch that opens up the 'scooped' mids on the Nitro, but I didn't get a reply on what the 'old-new' switch does on the Nitro. Does anyone out there have a new Nitro who can comment on the new options? As good as my fully loaded QR and 'vintage' Nitro sound, I'm ready to just order a new 'fully loaded' Nitro, but first I'd love to get some user feedback. Thank You!

Just a little speculation as I don't own a new Nitro but I do own a fully loaded QR (2016). I'd guess the mid boost does exactly the opposite of the mid cut on the QR. The cut on the QR scoops the mids and approaches the tonality of the Nitro. I'd guess the boost allows the Nitro to approach the tonality of the QR. Sounds like a great way to make both amps more versatile. The old/new switch in the QR switches between a slightly more aggressive (old) tone and his newer voicing. From what I understand the old is like his pre 2006 circuit and the new is post 2006. They both sound great and are usable. I personally like the "old" setting for the added mean-ness. Hope that helps.

Scott shot me another reply - the Old/New switch on the Fully Loaded Nitro let's you choose between the std 'Nitro' tone - which is based off if the 'New' QR tone, or the 'Old' style QR tone with the gainer Nitro circuitry. I'm dying to get one.

Sounds cool, a bit of the options anxiety never hurts!

I've got a new Nitro and I opted for all the bells and whistles. The old/new switch is a MUST - mostly because I play the "old" setting 99% of the time. It just seems to give me a bigger heavier sound than the "new" setting.

That does it ... I'm going to pull the trigger on a fully loaded Nitro.
