As gtrjunior said in his post channel volumes between 10 or 11 loop volume to taste. When I first got my Quickrod I called and spoke with Scott about the loop volume and that was his recommendation. Channel volumes above that with affect the solo function if you use that. Me I dont use it I run a Fulltone Fat boost 3 for the solo's

Yes that is correct last pedal in the chain out of the Fat Boost 3 into the return of the effects loop...

Do you guys notice a difference between using the solo boost on the amp and using something in the loop as a clean boost? I have both, I use a TC Spark Booster in the loop for boosting the clean channel since the solo boost only works on the OD channel). I like using the solo boost from the amp but haven't really tried the TC SP for boosting the OD channel. Don't have the amp here to try it right now!

The solo boost on the quickrod if memory serves my right activates gear 3 OD 2 then you have the solo knob to increase the volume.. I liked the way the fat boost sounded in the loop. I say try your TC Spark in the loop and try it on a lead you may like it. Lets us know what you find out

Another pedal I like in the loop for solo boosting is the MXR Micro Amp....it just adds volume without gain. I use it with my Blackstar setup.

The Micro amp is very affordable, even new. $99, iirc $79.99 actually! Nice pedal, my TC Spark Booster is similar, has more features and a bit more mojo but it costs $50 more... got mine as a gift.
