Is that your guitar too? The Floyd looks killer on the red finish. I'm usually not a fan of gold hardware, but I hafta admit, that does look really classy.... Yep that's my other 96! Yeah I'm not usually a fan of gold either.. I don't know man, I'm having second thoughts.

It was a regular PRS tremolo, though they are great/ responsive, I like the mobility of a floyd.

If you swap in the Floyd is there any drilling etc to do? Is it reversible if you don't like it?

No it's not reversible. They have to drill holes for the floyd to rest on and if its floating like mine will be, they have to route out more guitar. I've argued with people about playability before, and they all hate the idea but I just love floyd's. Here's a better shot of the body, some serious maple right hear!

Since you love the Floyd, worst case scenario is if you don't like the gold, you can always buy one in chrome and swap it and sell the gold one.
OR.....just sell that guitar to me and let me worry about it!!!!😊

Options options options... haha yeah lol. With a chrome floyd rose it will seriously look like Alex Lifson's guitar!

My 2 cents....if you're not 100% sure, don't do it. If you really want a Floyd in that guitar, get the chrome and sell the gold...

Are you going to change the tuners to gold too?

Are you going to change the tuners to gold too? Actually my black tuner buttons just came in, I'm thinking I'll install those. I also ordered a set of dark brown wooden ones and two sets of ivory buttons. I'm so picky when it comes to the visual aspect of the guitar, but details are important. Now if I can only get my luthier to come back from California!

I'll bet those ivory ones would look killer no matter which Floyd you install...

I think chrome would look nicer on that guitar. Just my opinion. Hope you have enough space to install the nut! I am like you and love my floyds. Have done installations like this and the biggest challenge is fitting the nut on keeping same scale length and 1st fret size etc and of course drilling the anchor holes. Very nerve racking job! That is one fine looking guitar

That is one fine looking guitar Thanks man! Actually the locking nut literally replaces the stock nut and your right at the right scale length, with the exception of 16th of a millimeter. I'll just use a shim to raise it a bit. I would honestly do the work my self, but I need to install a few more floyds before I feel comfortable moving onto a PRS. My luthier is gone at the moment selling his custom made guitars in California.

Yeah i have done a few floyd conversions and alot of stock nuts are smaller width wise than a floyd nut so fitting the floyd nut into the routed slot is challenging. Sometimes you have to go over the truss rod cavity a little to get it on. If you end up fitting the nut on, the next challenge is to drill your anchor holes at the right spot and straight so your 1st and 6th strings are evenly spaced from edge of fretboard. At the same time making sure the scale length is correct length. Yeah......I would be very nervous doing it to a PRS!!!
