Greetings. My 2012 Nitro has been out of commission since November. The fx loop acts as a killswitch. If I engage the fx loop the amp goes basically into standby mode. Scott was kind enough to send me a replacement modular fx loop. I had it installed and the problem persists. The loop acts as a kill switch and having pedals in the loop or not in the loop makes no difference.
I know nothing about amps. I just play them. This is my 4th Splawn ( 2 QRs and 2 Nitros) and its giving me fits. I would appreciate any ideas on how to resolve this issue.

Hey Stomp - 2012 model....I'm guessing you have a loop master volume dial on the back?

Hey man, I think my friend had the same problem. I remember him saying that it was bcs one of the inner input arms was bent and grounding out the socket. Try to get a pedal chord and cut it in half and put both into the input/output and see if that works. Then just pull one or the other out and see which one is shorting out. If it doesn't mute then it has to be one of the arms, and all you would have to do is bend it back to were it's not short circuiting.
Let me know if that works.

It does have the loop master volume in the back. What can be done or how can that be rectified if its the issue ?
Ill also have the amp tech look into the bent input arm possibility. My normal tech is not available at the moment so a buddy of mine has the amp and installed the loop which unfortunately did not work. I need to go grab the amp and get it to someone more knowledgeable but I have trouble getting around so this problem has persisted for longer than I had expected.
I appreciate the replies. I will forward them on and see what happens. Thanks guys !

Hey you can actually check it your self. It was super easy if I can remember. It yeah probably a better idea to get your tech to check it. Good luck man.

I would like to have tried but my tech has the guitar as his music store. He is going to look further into your suggestion. Wish me luck !

Good luck Stompboxfreak!
Did Scott have any further ideas?
If you had the amp on you we might be able to help walk you through a few troubleshooting ideas - like TheFight was doing.

My tech was to call Scott last week while I was in NYC. I won't know until Monday.

Well my issue persists. Now a tech who used to work for DR Z is looking at it. The amp has been busted since November 2015. Its now getting frustrating.

My Nitro is finally fixed after 9 months of head scratching. Here is the "Diagnosis"
Diagnosis
Visual: New effects loop board previously installed; No power running to effects loop board;
50k 20Watt resistor feeding power to board from ht line failed causing no power to get to board, reading several megohms
Recommendation
Replace 50k 20watt resistor
I really have no idea what that means but for $54 my amp works again. It sounds better than ever but I'm going to keep it for a few months and make sure nothing is wrong and then sell it. Splawns are easily found for 1k used so I can always buy another.

Tech who worked formerly for Dr Z amps figured it out. I don't think it was that big of a deal but my usual amp tech is no longer available so it was a matter of getting it to the right place. It sounds great. I goosed it with abMesa Flux Drive and played some " Disposable Heroes" and it was great. I won't be gigging for awhile so I need to downsize but this Nitro sounds great.

Congratulations.
My son has a 2009 Nitro with the loop pot. He has been having intermittent issues with the amp so I took it in and pulled the chassis...Hmmmmm! Ground broke free from a pot and one of the ground lugs on the speaker jack had "Never" been soldered. Glad the Heyboer held up.
No issues so far...♫
