^ What do you mean you painted the SLX? The headshell appears to have a matching basketweave to the cabinet. Is that paint? The THR is great. It sits next to me in the living room and gets more use than the big amps. That's a great idea. I should put my Peavey Vypyr in the living room as well. Maybe I'd play guitar more

Anything that enables more play time has to be a winner!
I'm going to checkout the Marshall Code when it hits the stores. If it sounds good, I'm going to grab a 50W and control it with my phone. This will be an even more convenient, albeit lazy, option! LOL

The front of the slx is the metal grille from the front of an XR8 falcon lol. I sprayed the cab grille silver to match it. It's one of the best sounding heads they ever made I reckon, but they weren't very well built.

Been a VERY long time since I've been to this forum! Since the last time, I have toured my ass off, cooked my ass off and now am a married homeowner enjoying retirement at 31. I loved touring but being trapped in buses and planes with 9-12 grown children 24-7 gets to you after a while. Also, my longtime client of almost a decade and one of my best friends on Earth (Joe Young of AntiSeen) passed away a couple of years ago and since then, I quickly lost my motivation to be a hired guitar-tech. But, I still love guitars and amps and now that I have more time at home, I can enjoy them! Here's a couple pics of my new house and an attached pic of my old place. Still hold the my Splawn is the best sounding amp of its kind out there and I have toured with Guns-N-Roses, Alice Cooper, Melvins, High on Fire and countless other "tone" driven bands. I would put it up there with Richard Fortus's modded Marshall that belonged to Mick Mars and Matt Pike's old SLO-100. I either use the Splawn, the Vibro Champ (68') or the Fender Concert (64'/65') the most. I'm loving the grill work on that SL-X! Attachments:

Thanks, I hope to spend more time around here as long as it is lively! I mostly gravitate towards vintage stuff but the Splawn is the one exception. I've bragged about it all over the planet! I've been holding off on guitar and amps and have been trying to put together a little studio. I have a 002 rack and a Fast Track C-400. I should record the Pro-Mod soon and post to Soundcloud. Great looking rigs everyone! I like the SL-X Marshalls, very underrated. I have a 50 watt dual reverb that I rebuilt that sounds pretty dang good too.

Welcome back! That is an awesome collection! Sorry to hear about your friend's passing. I also recently returned to the forum after a lengthy absence. I just got a 2015 QR and am loving it. Much more spungy and forgiving than my 2005 Competition was.

Congrats! I'm sure you'll love it. 800's are great amps but I doubt you'll be using it much after your QR arrives!

I've had a crap load of amps! Krank rev1, Marshall voodoo modded, Peters super gain Griffin model, PRS Archon, Friedman be100, 6505+, sovteck mig50, and two Quickrods. And all I kept was the two quickrods and the Friedman. Honestly I don't even play the Friedman,I just kept it bcs it's a cool modded super lead and very hard to find. I'm always rocking the qr. Every time I play that thing I have people asking g me what it is, it got to the point were ppl that used to have a qr and for what ever reason the sold it, we're buying another Splawn. I'll probably be buying a 2016 qr soon! Here's another shot of my rig!

Agree, I hate remorse so I never sell or trade. I used to run my Pro-Mod with 4x 4x12 cabs but recently, have gravitated towards vintage Fender stuff. The Pro-Mod is one of the keepers. I have had it a very long time. I believe it is Splawn amp #30 and now he's up to what, thousands? There's something about is early stuff thats been lost to time with all the revisions. I love the Mercury Magnetics and also enjoy not having any gears and a more straight-forward, single input approach. No half power switch and a 3-button footswitch for clean/od/boost. I wish I had it with me on some of the tours I was on. We had my SL-X out as a backup once and Rick St. Pierre was working with Alice Cooper as Damon Johnsons' guitar tech and had a wall of Wizards out with them. Rick retubed the SL-x for the heck of it with Mesa tubes but he never was very impressed (understandable). Had I taken the Pro-Mod, Damon might have ended up with a wall of those! TheFight, do you tour with your rig or does it live at home? Love a good 4-input! What guitars do you guys play with your Splawns vs. other amps? I find my SG, V and Tele sound greatest through the Pro-Mod.

TheFight, do you tour with your rig or does it live at home? Hey man, no I am not touring but I totally can. I'm actually in the process of recording my album. But the idea with this rig was that touring is possible. And it's better to set your self up in advance, nothing sucks more than have a tour set up and trying to get all the gear together.
