So we know ya'll have Splawns - But what else do you have? How do you use it, how do you compare it to a Splawn, what % of the time does it get, etc. ---------------- I'll go first. I'm not a big amp whore or anything. I started out on a Fender GDEC > Fender Frontman > Peavey Valveking. Then my life changed. Then I got my Splawn Quick Rod. Then I got a Blackheart BH1 1 watt head. Then I got a Peavey Vypyr 60 Tube combo. Then I got a Mesa Rectoverb head. So as you can see, I'm not touring guitarist, amp whore, flipper, collector, TGP sniffer or anything like that I do really like the Rectoverb. It has a lot of versatility. The mid gain tones are not as good as the Quick Rod - which is where that amp shines. The Rectoverb has better cleans and better high gain chugga chugga so it is a good balance between the two. They get about equal time. Before I got it I actually played the Vypyr 60 quite a bit instead. I recently (finally) got an A/B/Y pedal so now I play them (sometimes all 3 of them) at the same time and man o man is that orgasmic. I feel I have a pretty good selection of amps or tones. I've got the rock-metal thing covered with the Quick Rod and the crazy mids. The Rectoverb excels in its areas which is mostly cleans and the over the top high gain sh!t I like. I have a 1 watt Marshall'esque amp which is super limited but fun (1 knob), and a modeler. Here are some pics of the Rectoverb:

Hahaha amp whore! I think I've showed all my amps on the Splawn forum and some times I feel like a show off.
If always had a thing for Mesa amps but never owned one. And I'm just gonna say you have one of the sickest looking Splawns I've ever seen!
Did you ever trade your quick rod for a nitro? I can't remember if you ever did?

I started playing again about 5 years ago. In that time I bought, and at some point sold, a Blackstar HT-5R (head and cabs), BFG modified Jet City 22H, EVH 5150 III 50W, ADA MP-1, Fender Mustang, and a Roland Cube. Everything else was sold 20 years before.
All that's left now besides the recently acquired QuickRod is a Marshall DSL 100H, and a little Yamaha THR-10X.

Can't go wrong with a DSL IMO. How do you like that THR? Hahaha amp whore! I think I've showed all my amps on the Splawn forum and some times I feel like a show off. If always had a thing for Mesa amps but never owned one. And I'm just gonna say you have one of the sickest looking Splawns I've ever seen! Did you ever trade your quick rod for a nitro? I can't remember if you ever did? Oh, come on dude. That's what this thread is for. I don't remember what else you have. Friedman? Bogner?

The THR is great. It sits next to me in the living room and gets more use than the big amps.

I traded my old plexi headshell for that stripped headshell with another dude on RIg-Talk
xdawnofadream9xx" or something. Pretty sure he had a Quick Rod too. You can order most of Scott's amps in any of the headshells he offers (pretty sure). The long shell anyway.

Yeah, I ordered mine with the nitro headshell with a center stripe but the more I look at the super stock shell the more I like that one too. The cool thing about the nitro shell is you can see all the innards! lol scott said mine should be shipping at the end of next week...I can't wait

I prefer to see the innards myself too. It looks cool plus you can see visually if there are any issues. If you've ever had a tube red plate on you then you'll know what I'm talking about.

Plus , I'm probably gonna steal your idea of putting a light string behind the amp so it shows through!! Awesome idea, bro, looks killer!!

It is just an adhesive LED strip. You can kind of see it here. Plug it into a walwart AC adapter.

I have a Peavey Bravo 112 that I use sometimes in my living room. It has 2 EL84 and 3 12ax7's in it. It's a very cool little amp. It sounds like a JCM800. You can pick them up very cheap because people don't realize they are a tube amp. The tubes are horizontal and not vertical so the back of the amp looks like a transistor amp. I also have a JVM 205H (50 watt) head which i am presently trying to trade or sell now that I just got my 2015 QR. I will post pics of them when I get my phone pic files cleaned out. I used to have a DSL 50 a and a 2005 Splawn Competition and a Pro Stock which i don't remember the year but it was one of the very early ones but i sold or traded them. The comp in this pic was not mine but is exactly the same as the one i had.
