Hi, my name is Phillip, I live in Georgia. I just picked up my first Splawn yesterday. It's a white nitro and so far I really love the amp! I've been through a few amps here lately chasing a sound and not finding it. I tried ENGL, Mesa, and it just wasn't there. I got an awesome deal on trade with the Splawn and am happy to say that I am very satisfied with the sound. I'm running through a Marshall 1960B cab with t75's and v30's. I play hard rock, classic rock, a little metal and am finding the variety of tones in the nitro fit very well with all of it. I just wanted to say HI, but I also have a quick question. When the amp is on it has a hum and I have never heard an amp do that before. It's not a sound through the speakers, but when the amp is on standby the actual amp itself has a hum noise. Is this normal with these or ?? Thanks for any help. Here are a couple of pictures.

Hey man, congrats on the nitro, that looks killer in white!
That hum in standby mode - my nitro does it too, but it won't effect the sound. I've found it's more prevalent when the amp is cold...after about an hour it sometimes disappears entirely. I also have a marshall that does the exact same thing but only in winter, I've been told it's normal, there may be a thread in here somewhere concerning this.

I'm assuming it may just be those massive transformers in there but I have never heard an amp do it. I had a Marshall one time that sounded like a fan cut on when it powered up, but never a hum! Thanks again.
