Hey guys! I just bought a PRS Archon to match with my quickrod. Iv been on a crazy search to find an amplifier that can be matched with quickrod in terms of rhythm / lead, two head set up. I got a chance to play the amp and really enjoyed the tones I was getting. I'm really liking the Archon for that Neal Schon saturation, seeing that he is currently using them for his lead sound. This amp reminds me of a soldano /mesa, with less bottom end. The Archon is primarily a darker amp with loads of bright switches that can be activated to get more of a desired sound. Over all this thing is a gain devil, with a very nice clean channel that I'll be using alot. I'll be running this amp with my quickrod over the holidays, so I'll really get to know the amp better. Hope all goes well. Happy holidays!

They do have some charcoal burst 2x12 cabs that are pristine. I bin dying to make some videos, but I don't have a good camera. Mby soon!

After playing this Archon and getting a really good feel for it, i'v come to the conclusion that this amplifier is a toy. Especially when compared to a Splawn QR. All the tone i'v got out of this amp, I feel you can get with the help of a distortion pedal. Actually that's what it reminds me of, a distortion pedal. A very expensive distortion pedal. It sounds like a mesa but with out the bottom end, or mby like a soldano slo but not nearly as good.
This amp reminds me of the time I went to Guitar Center and had the chance to play a Krank Rev1. I remember thinking the amp sounded kick ass, so i bought it. But after bringing it home and a/b compared it to my QR it sounded horrible. So flat and lifeless.
This seems to be the case with Archon as well. I don't think it's my ears fooling me, I think it's just that the Splawn too much amp in compliance to others.
What do you think, comparing it to your amp before your Splawn?

If you get the chance, A/B tests never fail. I would probably just get another Nitro. I still haven't found an amp as good so I've been trying speakers out instead...although the new QR options might just sway me to get one of those.

What do you think, comparing it to your amp before your Splawn? I understand exactly what you are saying. I recall this time that Vom (creator of this forum and my bud) traveled to this studio because the guy wanted to try a Nitro. So we agreed to bring our amps down. On the way there, I swear, we both were talking about what amp we would like to try out someday. We both agreed that we would like to try a Diezel. Incredibly, we get to the studio and while the owner is thrilled to try out the Nitro, he has a Diezel Herbert or VH4...cannot recall which. He said he spent like over $4K on it. So Vom and I start ripping through the Diezel. It sounded ok......but not $4K ok. It had a weird "high fi" sound to it. Almost processed tone. I always tell everyone: IMHO NOTHING feels, sounds and backs you up on stage like a Splawn. Nothing.
