Hi there, i`m new here and i just bought a brand new QR, in part from reading this board every damn 15 minutes....LOL The amp is just amazing and tone is sweet as hell. I have only one worry. There is a hum i can hear at all times. I have unplugged everything, loop disengaged with cables out, no input. Just the power cord and speaker jack. Full power, 16 ohms in a 16 ohms VHT cab. 1st gear i can hear it, 2nd gear becomes louder and 3rd gear is quite anoying. With the boost ingaged it`s even worst. It`s quite loud. Clean channel you can hear it just a bit, but barely. What causes this? Is it normal? It shouldn`t be this loud. I can hear the hiss increase with gain, wich is a normal high gain hiss, but the hum is bothering me. It seems like an electrical hum. I have 2 other amps here and they don`t do the hum, so it`s not my wall plug. I`m really concerned about it, i hope there`s no internal damage Thanks for your help on the subject, Chris

BTW...welcome 7string...I have WAY too much on my hands with 6....

Hey thanks for the reply.
I forgot to mention that my footswitch was plugged in, never thought it could be that...But it was !
AS soon as plug it in, the hum starts. Ground problem?
I contacted Scott by email and i`m waiting on his response.
Now it`s quiet but, there is a very very slight hum, i guess this one is normal. If i put my gain on zero, with nothing plugged in, and crank the volume, there is a slight hum and gets louder till full volume. But it`s not very loud. Does anyone else`s amp have this little hum?
Thanks a lot.
Chris

Thanks a lot. Chris Mine is only noisy when I don't use the Splawn Footswitch and use my extra one. It probably is a ground issue. The other possibility is a preamp tube- usually the first one is the culprit.

Yep...not everybody wires their footswitch the same...so yes it could create noise.

Yep...not everybody wires their footswitch the same...so yes it could create noise. Well it`s the original Splawn FS that came with the amp, it should be wired OK. Everything switches the way it`s supposed. But i`ll check later tonight. Chris
