What type of noise does it make? Continuous hissing?
Neither of my Splawns are noisy at all, considering they are high gain amps .
Are your preamp tubes in good shape? Do you have any effects in line or in the effects loop?
Maybe try checking your cables to see if that might be the problem.

its a buzzy hum it changes as i move the guitar around. the amp is brand new 5 days old i thought it might be interference so i pluged it in to another outlet up stairs from where the amp is.it still had the noise. if i stand in the right spot it gets less noisy. maby a bad tube?

Quite possibly a bad tube.
Are you near a computer screen or tv?
Also change guitars, cables ,etc to find the problem by elimination.
Does the hum get worse when you are not touching the guitar?
Do you have a proper speaker cable and not a guitar cord hooked to your cabinet?

Computer monitors are bad about it, even florecent ligting can cause some of it. single coils more than humbuckers. ( hahah hence the name) the splawn was a lot quieter than my bogner at the same drive levels.. maybe insert noise gate if you want a quieter amp. I use some of those flouresent bulbs that replace standard light bulbs and had one of those causing noise. edit: if you are moving the guitar and its changing the noise,, the guitar is pickin up something, I doubt its the amp. as you mentioned the fender amp is doing it but not as much ( not as high gain). Is the controls in the back of the guitar shielded? ( copper or brass foil) and, are you close to radio towers? so many things can cause noise

Oh, I forgot....you might try tightening the bolts that hold your license plate on your car and replace the lightbulb in your freezer, this often helps me....(check the ice cube trays while your in there...)

And make sure it's not a full moon when you plug in. If so, turn your head left & cough twice before plugging in.

Just a thought, take out the cables from the effects loop or verify they are shielded. Man, the noise from that can be unnerving! Hope this helps... Rick

I have the same problem when I switch to 3rd gear. The hiss and hum gets loud and I have to switch to the clean channel in between songs so I can bear it. I just started using 3rd gear and really digging it too! I use a LP and it does this in the rehersal studio. I think I will try just plugging straight into the amp tonight and bypassing the loop to see if that helps.

I think the fact that my amp will be more than 6 feet away from me will help as well!
