Hey - I found out something really cool on here!!! My original post above was auto-edited - I'll have to use a similar phrase here because it won't go through, but I originally wrote NOT "playing around" but a phrase that means the same but goes something like "p-footing around". Get what I mean? Similar to "cat footing around"? Well, when I posted it, it came through as "girl thingy footing around". LOL!!!!!
Splawn QR - $1750 Splawn 4x12 - $750 Girl thingy - Priceless
Whoever came up with the auto edit verbage shold get and award. I'm still chuckling.

I'm with you, morecowbell. I tried this back around October '05 & didn't get any inside chassis pix. And my other current post about build quality has evolved into something other than the topic addresses. Pity. I truly wanted specifics on details & I wanted to see the inside of the Quickrod. It's not that I doubt but I will not base my amp choice soley on the claims of someone who logs into a forum & brags that he knows what he's talking about. MESA states their tolerances for parts are 2% & no higher if I remember correctly. This is the kind of thing I'm curious about w/SPLAWN. IMHO the amp webpage needs a major overhaul with more hi-res pics of all current models & a more thorough listing of options; move all older pix to a page of just older models, etc. I can do it if they'd let me. I admin a couple of sites myself. Hopefully we'll see some pix soon.

How do you post pix on this forum? you need to have a web hosting account somewhere.. again, before anyone post pics of the insides of the amps, i think they should ask scott first if it's ok...there was a big issue over at HC about someone posting the insides of a mark cameron mod...

nolonger5, I know you said you sent Scott an email, but alot of times his email doesn't work. Seriously just call him. He ALWAYS answers his phone especially in the morning. He is the nicest guy and will tell you anything and everything you need to know.

I know Scott is a really cool guy, but, he is also a businessman. We need to respect that. I'm probably in the minority here but I run a small manufacturing business that is Fed regulated and I don't even give them our 'proprietary' info on our process specification for building fuel cells. That's our bread and butter and 'differentiates' us from our competitors. If I were Scott I would guard my amp design and board layout etc...to give this away is business suicide and irresponsible to boot...he has a GREAT product...AND, he backs it up 'IF' anything goes wrong...if you don't want to buy it because he won't disclose tolerances or discuss his design is unfair to him and limits yourself...this is a touchy subject and puts Scott in an uncomfortable position.

I'd like to know for sure, but I'd be surprised if Scott forbid anyone to show what's inside his amps. I mean, that's a fact of life, if you design a great product the first thing people will do is see what's going on inside to learn from it. It doesn't mean they can copy it necessarily, but they can look at it or allow others to look at it. I would think mfrs understand that, that's what patents are all about.
I mean, can you see Ford saying you're not allowed to open the hood, or take pics?
Personally, I'd probably heed Scott wishes if he asked not to post detailed pics of the innards, just because I'm a nice guy (I think). But other than that, I don't think there anything unethical about it. I think it would be unreasonable to ask people not to photograph their amps. Even if Scott did ask, the "secrets" would only last a short time, someone's going to take a look, word and pics will get around, and it'll all be as common knowledge as what's inside a JCM800. That's the way it works.
Unless of course you go the Dumble route and cover everything in opaque goop so noone can see what's in there.
No back to the important stuff.......girl thingies.

jimbax: I hear ya. I would respect any wishes Scott had regarding his amp design. The thing is, once an amp is sold & becomes the property of the owner, sooner or later someone will photo the chassis & post a pic. It's only a matter of time in this day & age. At this point I'll say that I received an email response from Scott & I'm very happy with his reply! I'll ask his permission to post the info, but only if he's o.k. with what I post. I want his approval. I'll let you know how that goes.
