I need to retube my Pro Mod due to some issues, and I was wondering what type of tubes are best for the job? It currently has JJs and I want to try something new due to the inconsistences of JJs I've been hearing about. So recommend me some tubes please
So far, I've heard good things about SED =C= tubes, Tung sols, and Sovteks.
If it matters, I play metal, punk, classic rock, and things of the type. Help a brotha out!

Help a brotha out! I just retubed mine with Tung Sol 6550's a few months ago. I like them a lot. It seems like they smoothed out the sound a bit and there's not as much harsh top end. I've heard so many good things about them so I decided to try them out. I've been happy with them and I think I like them better than the JJ's. |

Would I have to re-bias?
since its a swap from 6550s and KT88s

Would I have to re-bias? since its a swap from 6550s and KT88s Well technically no because they are the same tube type but I always rebias when changing power tubes just because the bias can drift over time. Also a good idea if they don't have the same exact power rating as your KT88's |

Hey DonaldDemon, How did you bias the 6550's @ 50mA like the KT-88's? Do you know if Splawn has a different recommended bias point for the 6550's?
