i have finally decided to put my mesa cab up for sale and now i will need a replacement. so my question to the splawn owners out there is what should i go with to make my pro mod sound like it should?? i am leaning towards a splawn cab probably a straight front--black with black cloth grill.
as i have posted on here before i play all heavy stuff and want a cab to make my splawn really sing and cut through without being muddy or overly one dimensional sounding(like my boogie cab does).all suggestions will be appreciated.
thanks, Brian

Dude, get one of Scotts cabs unloaded and then order a set of Scumback Speakers. They are the best speakers that I have ever touched and the are killer with my Quick Rod! As a matter of fact, I have more Scumbacks coming with in a couple of weeks. I have one cab loaded with 30 watt Scumbacks and I am loaded my Splawn 4x12 with 65 watt Scumbacks. H75 is the model. Except, in the cab with the 30 watters, I am using the H75 and H55 in an x pattern. The H75 is like a Pre Rola G12H30 75hz, and the H55 is the same thing, but 55hz. I just ordered the 65watt version of the H75..........which is what a V30 should have been, but Celestion messed the darn thing up when they designed it. Oh well, Ted Weber got it right! :0

i talked to the guy at south-bay amp-works today and told him what i was looking for in my sound,we came up with the 2- h75hp(65 watters) and 2- h55hp(65 watters) in a x pattern as my plan of attack, he also said they would be running a sale on them soon so they'll be a little cheaper. i think I'll be happy with this set up(i hope, these things are pretty pricey!) but the guy seemed like he really knew what he was talking about and asked me a whole lot of questions about my playing style, amp i use, guitar and pickup and what kind of cab they were going into.
thanks for the feedback motrock, now i gotta wait till my mesa cab sells!
thanks again, Brian

Brian, dude........thats awesome. I hope that you mentioned my name? I have been helping Jim sell speakers since I got my first 4. Your going to freak when you get them. The H75/H55 mix gives this huge 3D sound. 3D is the best way that I can describe the Scumbacks. The best part is that after time they will sound even better. On the 30watters I had to play them 15-20 hours to get them fully broke in. My H75 65watters will take twice as long. That means I will have to crank it louder!

I have the H55 and H75 x-pattern in my 4x12. Jim & Ted's speakers kicks ass. I won't use anything else for that old school Celestion sound.

Hey , I am a newbie here... Just wondering about the Scumback speakers... Where can U get them, who makes them and how can I get more info... I would like to put them in a 2-12 cab. I like the looks of the Splawn oversized 2-12. Does anyone know how much it weighs?? Don't want to mess with a 4-12. Too big and too heavy to move around by myself. Thanks!!!

yeah i forgot that!! lol my quad of h-75hp/h-55hp are going to run me about $580 shipped (that is on sale price yet) so yes price is a factor but if they sound like i think they are going to sound and like the other posts have described them then it will be worth it.when you consider that i paid $900 for my mesa cab new this will end up being around $980 for one of Scott's cabs and the four speakers,(my other choice was the bogner cab with the v30s in it and that would be $1119 new)

My Scumbacks will be hear in about 2 weeks....I hope! The H75/H55 combo is just fantastic. Its so 3D and warm sounding.....with that punch. What does Frank Hannon of Tesla call it? SAC FACTOR? Well, the Scumbacks have the Sac Factor! Check out my Scumback Demo's with the Splawn Quick Rod and my Mojave Peacemaker here: www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=440427I have the H75 miced. I need to make some clips with the H55 miced too!

Oh yeah.....those clips are the 30watters. So if the 30watters sound that good....think about how the 65watters will sound!

Hello all, I am new and I am planning to purchase a Quick Rod in January. I currently have Mesa cabs, but plan to sell those off too. I have been looking at Ear candy cabs (www.earcandycabs.com) which look pretty nice. They supposedly have 2x12's that sound like 4x12 with porting. I am wondering if any of you have tried their cabs and have thoughts on how they sound with a Splawn.
BTW: they are now selling a cab with special speakers designed by George Scholz (called sugar cones). They are asking a pretty large price for these, so if any of you guys have any experience with these George Scholz speakers, info would be good.
Later, Edward
