yeah its the same story.. like winning the lottery. 10 years ago was a band like that down here in O-Town called "Skrape". good band, catchy radio metal, similar deal, same retarded attitude, playing for the label rather then themselves.. now they're all pushing 40 and playing in sh!tty cover bands.

I have Skrape's album........not too shabby and a good workout CD. I saw them open for Sevendust @ HOB Downtown Disney about 9 years ago. It's sad bands jump at deals that make them no money. Their drummer Will Hunt went on to play for Dark New Day, Black Label Society, Crossfade, Evanescence, and now Eye Empire and a few other bands I think. Really good drummer. Of course he wouldn't fit Allele's requirements........he's old like us. Ha! |

**UPDATE**
So the guy came over Wednesday. Doo-rag, soul patch, snake skin boots, leather pants. Oh God.
Plugs into his little combo amp he brought and....no sound. I plug him into my little Roland guitar amp and there's sound so bad amp. OK, that's cool, could happen to anybody. So he asks if we could at least play a couple songs sans bass for him so he can hear what we sound like. We play 3 songs and the guy just sits there. No tapping foot, no "you guys suck", "you guys are good" or anything. It was like he was just waiting in line at the DMV.
We get done and all he says is "OK. I'll come back Saturday with my other amp" turns and leaves.
Is this dude socially retarded or is this a major sign of Nikki Sixx proportion ego?

Ha ha.....he wouldn't have gotten past the studio door dressed like that for an audition with me. Is it just me or has the available musician pool gotten shallow and hasn't been cleaned since say 1984? I had a guy auditioning as a vocalist for a project about 9 years ago. I told him over the phone that we are auditioning at our rehearsal space located at a church, so just be aware that we have to keep things a little chilled out since we are using the PA and facility for free. It was all we had for a good live audition at the time. Dude shows up looking like a cracked out Geoff Tate lugging a six-pack of cheap beer in the door. Really?.....I mean really did the dude not listen or see the type of building he was walking into? Like I have said before I wish I would have recorded all the auditions I have suffered through. It would be a reality show hit. |
