ugh,, yeah that was the show I was at. As bad as it sounded live it seems worse in this video..lol. I've got 15 year old students who play better than that. That guy sucks now. yeah, if that was the show you were at I can see why you feel the way you do. I wouldn't blame you. Luckily, the show I went to in St. Louis on 04/26/08 he was sober and played his ass off. IIRC, the STL show was the first one after his second 'time out to rehab' and so from what I remember he was sober and spot on for the '3rd' leg of that tour. The St Louis show was supposed to be in November 2007 or something, then got cancelled due to rehab. It was rescheduled for March 30th (which is what my ticket says) and then that show was cancelled due to rehab and rescheduled for April 26th - which is the one I went to. St Louis April 26th sober show www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zi1qoyZcr38(notice at 2:41 you get a quick glimps of his pedal board) Like I said, the sober Eddie just stood in front of the drums most of the time and didn't sit down or jump around like a drunk eddie would do not to mention his playing was awesome. I will say though that MOST of the shows of that tour were the drunk Eddie and only in the end did he finally clean up. My point was simply that I hope he has stayed clean and they release another album and tour again. Cleanly. ktnxbai

Craig you actually paid to go watch this debacle? What a joke!!! EVH sucks so bad! Listen to the morons cheering him on as he aimlessly divebombs. He makes no sense whatsoever and people just applaud it. I don't get it? Of course this is just my opinion but I think the second link posted when he's sober (while better than the first) sucks also. Just incoherent noodling. Pieces of Eruption in there but all jarbled together and it makes no sense at all. Could he volume knob just a bit longer in this solo with the delay?
They cancelled that show twice because of rehab? That's pathetic. EVH is a shadow of what he was. Drugs and alcohol have ruined that guy. Sad. Truly sad.

OUCH, that is sad. You know I never was a fan but that sucks for everyone who idolized him back in the day. He looks and plays like a drunk hobo now. My guitar hero played it right and died in a pile of vomit before he could get to that stage.

Yeah it just doesn't cut it for me anymore. That clip is better than the Orlando show no doubt... but its still not very good.

This does it for me,, 1000% EVH in his prime. The solo is sick.
Its ok if you dont get better, but dont get worse.

Yeah, somehow the cheering (on the bad video) makes it worse. He's like a sick animal at the circus, the crowd applauding and blind to the f'ing mess he's in.
You must lose respect for your fans too, when they'll cheer anything. And where does that leave you?

Amen to that.
In the mean time I for one am going to root for the new EVH because he needs to stay clean and I believe he has more tunes and tours left in him.
Also, with that STL show. If he had been used to playing f'd up all of these years then it must have been hard to do that show sober, especially being new to sobriety and generally afraid of large groups of people as he has admitted. So if the solos were not perfect I can live with it.

Yeah TJ, this was the end of the VH era (1995 I believe). That 'Balance' cd was one of my favs. I liked the old VH with Roth but the Van Hagar stuff was more 'polished' imo...I even liked the peavey 5150 soakin' wet tone back then

I remember this vid Splawndude. Too funny! They called him a "MOdern Day Mozart" before he started playing. This is the one where he looks like "Reverend Jim" from Taxi. You can tell he's just bombed in this vid. LOL!! I agree with you. I hope he still has something to share in the future. It's just so sad to see someone fall from grace like this.
