Hello fellow Splawners! Have any of you checked out "That Metal Show" on VH1? It is AWESOME! The format is kinda like a talk show but the guests are people/bands like: Michael Anthony Dokken Zakk Accept Steve Vai Yngwie Alice Cooper Judas priest Rush GnR Vinnie Paul Ratt Lita Ford Slayer Rob Zombie Mike Portnoy Rudy Sarzo Reb Beach ....and the list goes on and on! they do have good guests..but don't you find those guys that host it..well, kinda lame? LOL....
I really REALLY cannot stand Eddie Trunk...lol...

Think I posted after the Yngwie show a couple years ago. It's great that they can get these guests and get on the air, but I just don't think the hosts make the most of them.

It's great that they can get these guests and get on the air, but I just don't think the hosts make the most of them. ditto...You have a comedian..that other dude, then Eddie Trunk I know Trunk has a lot of fans and a pretty encyclopedic knowledge of music..but have you ever noticed he likes EVERYTHING? LOL....he loves this band, he loves that band..this guitarist is great, that bass player is great....I find a hard time taking someone seriously who seems to 'like' everything |

They don't bother me too much...plus I really like just listening to the guests. Howard Stern used to annoy me for similar reasons tho...he would get like EVH on and then he would ask him some stupid fn questions like..."sooo Ed....how many times do you crap a day"?........drove me nuts.

I know a lot here don't like him (for some reason), but as you said, he does have an extensive knowledge. I feel as if the other hosts on the show drag him down (listen to his radio show in contrast). And although it might seem as if he likes everything (then again, it is his job, so he doesn't want to piss off too many people), if you listen to his radio show regularly, you'll see that he has subtle ways of expressing preferences (his favorite band is UFO) and dislikes (Poison) for certain bands. He has a tactful way of saying, "I appreciate some of what these guys have done, but they aren't really my bag." I think he's doing a great job of trying to bring metal/hard rock more into the mainstream as much as one can. But then again, maybe it's just that my tastes and opinions are almost directly in line with his. |

Ok,
maybe I am being too quick to judge the guy, I have seen him on tv a couple times, I know jack about his history, I live in CA, where nobody heard of him before he made it to VH1. He seemed like a dufus on TV, but they could have easily told him to "dumb it down for someone 13 years old, who thinks Load is the first Metallica album". In which case he is just gonna look bad to anyone over 20.
He seems a nice enough guy.

I really dont care for him either and I agree with Shred, he seems like a poser....Buy Im glad there is that kind of show on...I just wish they would have a different host...Jeff Keith and Frank Hannon on this week...Cool!!

Last nights show was killer . The guys from Tesla and Chuck from Testament were there.
Great stuff. They have fixed some of the problems I've seen with the show(too short),like now its a hour long ,more time to talk with the guest.
