The SR can do everything a newer (2009 or later) model of the QR can do.
Differences between these 2 amps: - QR has separate gain and volume controls on the clean channel, SR only has a separate volume. HOWEVER - the channels are fully independent on both amps so gain settings from the overdrive channel should not affect the clean channel on either amp. - QR half power cuts out 2 power tubes and requires you to halve your ohms requirement. SR half power is actually a triode / pentode adjustment and does not require a change in ohms. - Full power QR is rated at 100W, SR is rated at 45W. SR is still very loud. If you're running your QR at half power for most gigs and keep the volume below noon, then the SR should do fine.
Hope that helps!

I'd be curious about the 50 vs 100 watt comparison. 100 watt amps tend to sound and fell bigger, and tend to sound more complex. 50 watters can be nice though because they can be sweeter, warmer because the output tubes compress sooner. Comments?

I’ve been playing my Pro Mod for over 5 years now and never noticed the OD gain affecting the clean channel volume. Strange because my amp is from ’05, has only 3 preamp tubes and I get plenty of clean channel volume and head room. I do have the clean volume around 1:00 as opposed to 9:00 for the dirt channel but that’s common. As long I am not cranking the OD channel to insane levels the clean volume keeps up just fine.
Now you have me wondering if the OD gain affects the clean channel. I run my PM like your QR, Gear 1 OD 1 or OD 2 and gain at 12:00

Comments? This has to do with a lot of different factors. 100 watts will offer more clean headroom effecting the amps tone and feel by making it more urgent and punchy. Also the way the speakers will react to the added power and subsequent volume will make a huge difference as well. I can run my sb loaded cab with my buddies little 5 watt blackstar practice amp and you can tell that the speakers are malnourished. When I run my KT88 Nitro at volume the speakers start to move and you feel the compression sucking on the cab and all is right with the world.

I have been thinking about saving my money and skipping the Streetrod and getting a newer, used QR because I could save money.....but in the end, I tend to prefer 50 watt amps, less tubes to maintain and I can get them into the sweet zone sooner.....so maybe I stick to SR.

Nice featgure of the Quickrod, is the clean channel has a gain knob. The Street Rod lacks this. That is one thing I would want, a clean gain knob.
