Hey Carl..welcome to the Splawn family..Man,that green LP you have is the nicest looking guitar I have ever seen...IMO...Does it play and good as it looks? Also, how did you get your hands on that? Yes it does play and sound as good as it looks! One of the best sounding Les Paul's I have ever played ... and I have been able to play quite a few over the years. I actually got the guitar on Ebay a few years ago ... seller had great feedbacks, was reputable, and offered a return policy. So we took a chance on it. (We have a thing for green instruments here in Elf Land) Anyway, its a great guitar! PS. My new Nitro will be in a green tolex. ;D

Hey Carl did you go for EL34's or KT88's ? JBrady Hi J, I did go for the EL34's after speaking to Scott about it. He said the mids would be more pronounced with the EL34's, while the KT88's would have a more scooped sound. I tend to play a lot of single note lines, so the mid range bump is a good thing for me. Scott also said I could swap the tubes and try KT88's if I learn to bias the amp ... so I may try them at some point. Hope to have the amp soon! Carl

Hey Carl are you still going to play the Fortin stuff? I have a QR and now all this Nitro talk has me wanting one now. Sure ... I have several good amps in the studio here including a Cornford MKII 50, Soldano Hot Rod 50 and the Fortin MH. All very cool amps. I have played both the Nitro and QR at my friends Tony Rombola's place ... and was very impressed with both! I do see the Nitro as being my primary amp moving forward ... matched with a Splawn cab. I do have my sights set on a QR also down the road. Both the QR and Nitro sounded awesome. To my ears, I heard the Nitro as a more "modern" type of voicing ... but both could work for my music no doubt. For recording, you can't have enough amps! For live, I usually only play one amp ... and that will be the Nitro!

Wow I guess the Nitro really left an impression on you. From what I hear the Nitro has more of a modern voicing. I know that Joel from Collective Soul run both simultaneously which sounds real good. I just picked up your solo album on Amazon the other day and I must say it is very good. I am thinking about posting on Rigtalk about it. Very impressive!

Greatly appreciated! I did just get the Nitro and matching 2x12 cab ... and it is killer! Even better sounding than I remember. Super impressed with this set up. Lot's of music ahead with this rig. About to start tracking guitars for my new album, and have a new DVD on the way. Will be posting pics and clips soon.
