I'm not gonna lie country is hands down my favorite genre of music to listen to and play. Metal is a very close second.
I'm not into that new country crap cept Brad Paisley he can fly on that fretboard. I'm mainly a PG country fan PRE GARTH! haha
So don't be shy if you are a fan what are you listening to and playing lately. Who else on here is a country fan?? If you don't like country, their is no need for you to inform me. Just don't post if you want to bash on it. Thanks Edwin

I'm not into new country that much. I do however love Brad Paisley's "Play" cd. Killer stuff. I'm heavy into players like Redd Volkaert, Brent Mason, Clarence White, Guthrie Trapp, Forrest Lee jr., etc. etc. Great players! Love old country. Little Johnny, Waylon, Willie, Jerry and Merle is good for ones soul. :-)

Was hanging out at Robert's last year during NAMM watching him for most of the trip. We're going back in June. Sol is a great player for his age. He definitely got the leg up from Brent in Nashville. Good for him! TJ

Yes, the twangy and the southern flavored varieties trip my trigger. Loved Western Swing while I was living in TX - fast, twangy jazz, w/a lot of room to play outside. Fun instrumentation, great players, good times.

I grew up on it, spoon feed Hee Haw on a weekly basis and knew from a early age that I liked Telecasters & Big Boobs!

Grew up listening to a lot of country then kinda shelved it for a while, but came back to it 10-12 years ago and still listen to it on a regular basis. Been to a couple Brad Paisley shows and quite a few Dwight Yoakam concerts. I'd have to say I'm a bigger fan of the traditional stuff vs. modern country, but I do like Gary Allan and a few others. One of the "vintage guys" I like is a dude named Ricky Van Shelton. Not a guitar player really, but the dude had a great country voice. Not sure what ever happened to him, hasn't released anything in years as far as I know, but I still play some of his old stuff.

I grew up metal, but embraced country after moving to the US. Apologies to all you good ole boys, but it's probably "new country" that I listen to most of the time! I suppose that's largely what's been delivered to me on the radio since getting here. Even so, I love the humor, honesty, and tragedy found in country, and how uniquely American it is.
I admire the tight song writing, too. The perfect three-minute formula that I guess Motown had and later pop, seems to belong to country now.
One thing I cannot abide is Kenny Chesney going on and on about summer or beaches or Mexico.
Currently getting a lot of plays out of Miranda Lambert's latest, Revolution. House That Built Me, Only Prettier, Time To Get A Gun, just some perfect songs on there. I know this is probably shallow next to your rootsy stuff, but I really enjoy it, there it is. I like some nice production along with my heartache. ;D

Man, Guthrie Trapp is one of my favorites! I think he is the best of all the Don Kelly players. JD Simo is good as hell though. He makes me jealous. I wish I could play like that so bad, I'm currently searching for a western swing instructor in my area.
