such as? the latest from geniuses such as slipknot, coldplay or Opeth or lady gaga?? "I'll take all things that suck for $200, Alex" lol anywho..there's nothing wrong with liking both old AND new... How 'bout some some Seven Dust, Alterbridge or (new) Creed just for simple starters...The new Breaking Benjamin Cd is great from begining to end. I would suggest as you mentioned, Opeth but Mikael Ã…kerfeldt tends to use "Cookie Monster" vocals from to time so I guess that would mean the music sucks..wrong! Same with Between the Buried and Me and let's not forget my favorite, Nevermore. Would you like for me to continue? ;D No please do not continue! Did you just really suggest we listen to Creed? OMG I think I'll stick with Duran Duran. LOL!! Seven Dust, Alterbridge, Creed, Nevermore, Between the buried and me, etc. I think you're starved for some variety. Somehow I do think that in ANOTHER 20 years we'll still be singing "Bryan Adams" songs. Here's a run down of my take on those bands you mentioned: Creed = Sorry Scott Stapp. We already have an Eddie Vedder. Get your own identity. BTBAM= Sorry there's already a cookie monster and he's on Sesame street. As for the rest of the band, Good players but Dream theatre eats your lunch. Alterbridge= all members of Creed band running away from douchebag Scott Stapp. Same music, different singer. Sevendust= Pretty cool band. Gotta give you props for at least one. :-)

I knew I would get harpooned for even mentioning Creed (I asked for that) but hey, guess what, I did anyway. Never have been a big Creed fan but the new album is pretty good for commercial music, still not a Stapp fan though, never was. The new Cd is pretty good none the less but a dog biscut compared to stuff like Between the Buried and me. Alter Bridge is a huge improvement over Creed, the music is similar but much better with the input from Miles Kennedy, awesome singer btw! Between the Buried, what can I say other than Incredible! Nothing wrong with a little cookie monster vocal line here and there. The singer is also a great keyboard player btw (response from the back row "maybe he should stick to keyboards"). I did touch on Opeth also, I guess they suck also because of the throaty vocals...damn them. Any comments on Nevermore? I dare anybody to flame them... no he didn't say that! I did give you credit for Bryan and Tina so be easy on me

I see nothing wrong with any type of music as long as that type of music stirs an interest in whoever. I do think Alterbridge is better than Creed just cause I'd like to slap Scott Stapp in his stupid mouth. BTBAM: Cookie monster vocals aren't my thing. However those guys are sick musicians in that band. Nevermore is a cool group. I personally wouldn't buy their cd but then again I'm in a different place right now with music. I appreciate the whole rock scene I'm just not as into it as I was a long time ago. I'd rather pop in Extreme II and listen to that than Nevermore. Call me crazy but that's just what's going through my veins these days apart from all the chickin pickin that I so love. Sevendust. I love their first CD. I still think it's as great as it was the first time I heard it. Duran Duran. All I can say is "Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand just like that river twisting through the Rio Grande and when she shines she surely shows you all she can. Oh Rio Rio dance across the Rio grande!" (on a side note. Tell your bass player to cover that tune and see his expression once he delves into the music" sick bass line! You did give credit on BA and Tina so you're good with me. ;D

Just kidding about the Bryan & Tina comment I was just trying to cause a stir, they are awesome but you can keep Duran Duran... ;D I have no problem with cookie monster vocals..well, let me clarify..as long as the songs are good (soilwork) then I can look past the vocals as much as people say Opeth is the bee's knees, I've yet to hear one song that does it for me...I don't see what's so special about them.. SevenDust...haven't heard them since they went all down tuned, slappy bass Korn..all disjointed...not my cup of tea.. Don't really know much by Alterbridge Breaking Benjamin??? Next you'll tell me you listen to Jimmy Eat World and I'll have to banninate you..LOL...j/k Creed? Dude, need I comment on that one? lol I hear Between The Buried and Me alot on Liquid Metal on satellite..I immediately change the station...lol...metal bands like that aren't my cup of tea either... Nevermore is pretty cool..while I hate the lamenting vocal style (and let's face it, he sings EVERY song the same..only one man is allowed to do that..Chuck Billy!!!) the guitar work is good...they can lay down a groove..and Jeff Loomis is a crazy bastard on the guitar.. I like Bryan..don't really care for Tina though...Double Duran rules!

I did give you credit for Bryan and Tina so be easy on me got nothing to do with the vocals, man..as I said in my last response...if it were strictly about vocals i wouldn't listen to Megadeth, Soilwork, older Children of Bodom, some Carcass, Fear Factory..hell, I probably wouldn't even listen to rush cause Geddy's voice can get on my nerves...lol I just think that Opeth's music is average at best....I think they TRY to come off as this big complex and cerebral band when in fact the music is a little boring to me....that's just my take on that band...

It's all good guys, I was just having a little fun and knew I'd get hammered for it! I like all music as long as there is substance and understand everyone's taste may vary.
TJ, I love the chick'n pick'n stuff, they are are some of the best players out there as far I'm concerned. Been working on that technique for a while now and totally suck at it but I'm still trying!
Shredder, Soilwork is the Sh^t! I've seen them many times and met them once in D.C, really nice guys and they rip! Also give Opeth another chance they will grow on you, the guitar playing is over the top. There's a lot we all can learn from these guys. I had to let this stuff play a lot before finally hearing where they were coming from...I'm a little slow to catch on at times.
