Since Im not in a band right now I thought I would try doing some home recording. Im very new to it and learning my way around Protools because I never cared to learn and was just playing covers anyway. So far I have just been using the Eleven Rack plugin in my Protools and m-audio oxygen midi keyboard.
Im getting ready to experiment with my 2x12 cab(GOV/M.O.W). I have it isolated and using a sm57. Im going to try things like mic placement and stuff but thought I would just throw this out if anyone has tips, trick, ideas etc.
Thanks.

If you are both playing and recording, invest in a reamp box. Will make your life 100x more enjoyable!

I’ve been trying to spend a lot more time doing home recording myself. The band stuff has been extremely slow so I need to keep occupied. Really, it just takes a lot of reading up on techniques and then PRACTICE. It’s like playing guitar, the more you keep at it the better you will get.
I couldn’t get a good guitar tone for sh!t a few months ago and now I have found what works pretty well for me. For those of us doing it at home on low budgets it’s all about getting the most out of cheaper gear and working your way around the limitations of the room. My music room is tiny and has no acoustic treatment, which has been my biggest obstacle.
