OMG,, thats hilarious that you knew that.. That was the best place to play,,,unless it rained.. lol. had to cover everything with that plastic and WAIT. Dan Page was my idol.. my biggest influence on guitar. I look back on those days and was lucky to be in a band with him for over a year. This was the band I quit Landz End for.. 'cause this band made money.. hahaha. Do you ever see him? Man, I havent seen him in years. One of the last times I saw him was at his apartment up off State Rd...he wasnt in a band but played me some home recordings that were totally bada$$...I believe he was getting married and was into scuba diving bigtime. He works for AMHA and told me to use him as a reference when I applied there. That was quite a few years ago though Do you know Dave Rudolph?...Dan refered me to him for lessons. That dude was amazing...I failed bigtime and was too overwhelmed and intiminated, one of my biggest regrets Yeah the last stuff I heard him record in the late 90's was friggin' insane good. I studied with Dave Rudolph and Dave got me my first teaching job when I was 19.. He was the best teacher and mentor.. but totally intense for sure. Some people who took lessons from Dave include: Dan Page- IMO the best Metal guitar player of his time Lou Kolawski - Ripper Owens old guitar player Neil Zaza Johnny and Freddy DeMarco Billy Morris (Warrant, Paul Gilbert solo band) Mike Szuter (Paul Gilberts solo band and Vegas All-Stars) Russ Parrish (FIGHT and Steel Panther/Atomic Punks) .. and Me... lol.

Neil Zaza is a great player. Had the opportunity to chill and jam with him for a while one night at a club some time back, "Two Hands..." era stuff. Super nice cat. Took a brief "Q&A" section for the guitarists in the audience (ok, all the audience were guitarists), was great getting his concepts across. His backing band was sic too - bass player was absolutely ridiculous. Can't remember his name...maybe Doug Johns? I do enjoy Neil's music/writing. He's a fan of Neil Schon and really tries to build memorable/singable melodies into his songwriting rather than just shred all the time. Great "music".

Uh oh.... 1986 at The Troubador in Hollywood, CA with my '84 Charvel San Dimas and vintage Orange cabs and Marshall heads in stereo with a Furman PQ-3 and a Lexicon PCM-41. Man did that rig sound freaking huge.

Mike Szuter (Paul Gilberts solo band and Vegas All-Stars) Mike Szuter and Outta The Blue freaking ruled. I LOVED that band.
