well i can now answer the guy that was asking about seeing all the nitro's 4sale.. its just not what i was looking for and unfortunately was unable to demo one so like most had to buy sight unseen..thats probably why most are being sold..the main reason i dont like it is because the volume has no taper,0 and wide ass open and no in between ...cut back to half power and the clean goes out the window..sounds distorted..it has kt77's in it at the moment.. i guess im looking for something a little more saturated and chewy. i thought i wanted raw but i guess not...its a great amp but not for me..damn i hate the tone quest...i guess its going on the auction block .

Not that it should matter, but is it used?More of a mesa sound you were after?

yea it was used in mint shape...i have played mesa amps since 94 so i guess im used to the sag.. and i went from an axefx to this...which was more saggy in comparison...no biggie i buy and sell gear all the time,,and sold stuff that i loved to try something different and come full circle and buy the same gear later..lol

Keep it for a while and play with it. Take it out and play it live before you put it up for sale. May be time well spent.

Not so fast, keep it for a while. I did the same thing after switching from a Bad Cat Hot Cat 30 to the Nitro and I wasn't feeling it either. It took time but it grew on me especially after cranking the mids wide open and the treble, presence and resonance all the way down with the gain at noon. I know these settings sound crazy but you couldn't pry mine out of my hands now. I love this amp more than any I've ever owned and I've been through a slew of them.

This is true. I got a new quick rod and after a couple of weeks .I was ready to sell it.I was also told to hold on,also.Needless to say ,i got a, pro stock also know.I think other nito players will give you insight.Ah yes ,the circle of gear buying. For me it was just different settings than i was use to.Now i love it.Have fun at practice.

I played a Mesa DR for 8 years. Ordered the Nitro and when it landed I was disappointed. I gigged with it for a few months and when I went back to my DR I could not believe how I had outgrown that thing. I now have a QR as well which I have not played with as much but I am getting a feel for it finally after 3 months.
Most important...... what are you running the Nitro through ? It will sound like glorious ass through a Mesa cab. I bought some SB25's and loaded my Mesa 2x12 with them and I noticed an immediate improvement. Then I ordered a Splawn 2x12 with sb25's and I am hooked. I would not trade my Nitro or sell it for anything. Mind you I was disappointed when I got it.
The volume taper sucks. No doubt about it. Put a volume "suck knob" box in the loop for home use. Honestly the Nitro cannot be played as a bedroom amp. The taper is just not going to allow for that. I do jam my QR at home sometimes but never the Nitro.
Get sb25's, search the forum for user settings and forget about playing the amp in the bedroom and you will love this amp in a week or two. If not.... "ll trade you my DR for it.

thanks for the replies and support guys..just got back from practice,it went ok but the volume issue seems to be the hurdle ..it was drowning out everything on 2 ...volume..not time time wise..and the clean is very sterile..im just not convinced its for me..im gonna give it a little more time though...i forgot to add that im using a marshall 1960A cab. and an ibanez 2550Z guitar. everything stock.

hey dorian , I bought a brand new nitro messed with it till the cows came home, one day loved it the next hated it.Problem one the kt77s SUCK!!! and the preamp tunes also sucked! 2) the cabinet choice with a splawn is crucile!!!! you need the right cabinet with it. 3) gtr pus also could contribute but not as much as 1 and 2. $) I ordered another NITRO, Silly ME, but after hearing clips of what it should sound like and my friend bringing over his splawn, I am going back full circle, just like the drowning pool! we go FULL CIRCLE! try the 1 and 2 and then see, cuz you might regret it!!!

If its an older amp you really might think about the tubes.... On the volume issue.... A few things have changed in the design and thats pretty much taken care of now. With that one you might try the volume pedal in the loop to tame it down some.

this nitro has the + - DB buttons in the loop and i dont hear much of a difference when activated..and if guys are playing on 9'oclock i dont know how your doing it. 9'oclock = 3 on amp volume i cant get above 7'oclock which is 1.. on either channel it is ear piercing loud, and for the record i jam with a power drummer..he is known for being loud...i have owned just about every amp out there in in 100 watt head format and never had this problem with volume...maybe there is something wrong with the one i got?...anybody use a hotplate or speaker load?..

like tree said try a volume pedal in the loop . it makes a world of difference . tames the volume trouble you are having . I play a QR thru a 4x12 in the bedroom most of the time and I can get good tone @ mouse fart levels .
