I just registered the other day after stumbling on the splawn web site.I've listened to every clip on splawn amps I could find and I am SOLD!!!!!!!!!!Last week I bought a nos 5150 for $700.Sold it today for $800 to put a down on a super comp w/ kt88's.CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!! Love the mission statement ( Welcome to the Forum, I know that you will love your Splawn. Scott's amps and customer service can not be beat IMHO. I love his mission statement (Romans 10:13) also. He puts a scripture verse inside the chassis of his amps. My Quick Rod has Romans 10:13, but I think I read that others might have different verses in their amps.

LOL ( ) I would like to order a blue plexi style Splawn Competition someday, and I am hoping that Scott will put John 8:58 inside the amp. The Pharisees picked up rocks to stone Jesus for claiming to be God. They understood Him with no ambiguity there LOL. Let me know how that time machine thing works out for you.

Hey JD, I've also seen Scott print custom messages on the back of the chassis, so maybe that's something you want to consider. It would be good to have you in Club Competition someday. With the recent Yngwie clippage I've been convinced all over again that they have a certain mojo.

Thanks for the welcome!! I am waiting on a Quickrod with a Splawn 4X12 used from 2007. It looks like total perfection and I was told that it has less than five hours of play. This guy is a bass player with money to burn apparently. He wanted to sell the Splawn and get a small combo because he doesn't play guitar that much. I traded a Mesa MarkIII Red Stripe combo and cash for it. I understand it has the old clean channel. I'm not buying it for the clean channel, but was wondering if anybody was really disappointed in the earlier channel anyway? I haven't ever read anything bad about the earlier clean. I am way more than excited. I can barely sleep. I've never been in the same room with a Splawn before. Only internet clips!!

the earlier clean is workable...it's just that the gain on the OD channel affects how clean (or not clean) the clean side is
the later models with the extra pre amp tube have a separate gain knob for each channel
if you know how to roll back the volume on your guitar you'll be fine
