I'm running mine with an Uberkab (v30/gt75 x pattern) and it sounds really good. I play chugga chugga metal along the lines of Machine Head and Lamb of God. Of course g.a.s. always has us wondering if the grass is greener. I would like to get a Splawn cab but I don't know much about non-Celestion speakers other than the P50E's in VHT cabs.
So what are using with your Nitro and what kind of music do you play?
Can you get new Splawn cabs with anything other than their own speakers (like Eminence Gov's/Texas Heat/MOW/Swamp Thing/etc.)?

I have a variety of cabs (Mesa Recto 2x12, CAA 2x12 ,Mesa Thiele 1x12 and ear candy 1x12) I like the Recto 2x12 with V30's the best. It suits the Nitro well. It's probably more suited to metal than mid gain but that sounds like what you want.

I run a Splawn 4X12 with Gov/Texas Heat X pattern and an Avatar contemporary 4X12 with the same X pattern. The Splawn is the better sounding cab overall and the one I record with now. The Avatar is a very close but is more focused and deeper tone wise. The Splawn is more open sounding. The Gov/Texas heat combo is the best I have found to compliment the Nitro. Very raw sounding and no flubbing or farting out even in drop B. I highly reccommend the Xpattern I have or a Gov/Man O War for the Nitro. It needs a ton of headroom or power absorbtion from the cab to sound massive. When I have both cabs running it crushes. Ditch the Celestions, get and empty Splawn cab, and put in a Gov/ Texas heat or Man O War X pattern. You will not be disappointed if you play drop tuned chugga chugga stuff.

Thanks for the replies. I've heard the Gov/MOW combo is really close to the V30/gt-75 combo but just a little better.

2x12 with private jacks and a 4x12 with sb 25's... haven't played them apart but the two together are devastating. The combo seems to cover the entire sound spectrum..nothing lacking and nothing overbearing. I am running a Nitro with EH KT88's and have never heard anything close to this kind of tone and fullness.

i have two splawn 412s, one with the gov/mow x-pattern, one with a gov/sb25 x-pattern. i also have a splawn 212 w/ two sb25s. for the nitro and the type of stuff i like to play, i really like the gov/mow cab. it's the tightest and punchiest of the cabs. the gov/sb25 sounds a bit bigger, but isn't quite as tight.

guess I'm the oddball of the bunch. I tried about 20 different 4X12 cabs including a couple of Diezels, the bogner uber and xtc cabs, about 3 different marshalls, egnater tourmaster, peaveys, orange and all 3 mesas and quite honestly, the only one that I liked was the marshall vintage modern 4X12 but with only green backs in it, it's ill suited for high volume stage use with KT88's and when I tested it, it would lose it's clarity and definition when it got near stage volume so that was out. The mesa cabs I absolutely despised.. even the roadking cab. They all seemed so stiff and brittle and cold...same with the diezels and to a degree, the orange as well. The uberkab's low end got muddy and farty (also did this with our other guitarist's Einstein)... the xtc cab wasn't too bad but again, the V30's simply couldn't cope with the amount of low end that I demand out of a cab. I ended up just calling Derek and ordering a 4X12 splawn cab, got it empty and now have a pair of earcandy greenmachines (which are simply unreal) and a pair of 100 watt scumbacks. Totally owns the stage. It has the huge powerful tight clean low end, full fat organic midrange and crisp smooth glassy highs. I recorded this back when I had a V30 and G12H30 mixed with the greenmachines so it doesn't sound as good as it does now but you get the idea. www.youtube.com/watch?v=gS_uD3VDsNc

Splawn 4x12 with SB/BB's and another with Gov/MoW's. I prefer the SB/BB's with my Nitro though. Sounds fantastic!

I think my X-pattern sounds great and huge in my212 Splawn cab! So I can save me some money and just get the super Comp head and be done, Right? Fookin A!!!!!!!!!!
