I am awaiting the arrival of my QR and I have decided to order a 2 x 12 matching cabinet to go with it. Most of my playing is done in a cover band where we play mostly 90's to present music a la Foo Fighters, Tool, Seven Mary Three, Pearl Jam and the occasional Disturbed and Godsmack song. I am hoping the QR will cover this material well enough for me to discontinue using a Mesa Dual Rec.
I have listened to the speaker comparisons and I think I would like a vertical 2x12 cab with SB25 speakers. For the music I cover does this seem like a good choice ? Other suggestions ? Stay with my Rec cabs ? I'd appreciate your input so I can move forward and order up a new cab. Thanks !

Yes, great choice, exactly what you said. Pair of SB25's in the 2x12.

open back or closed ? Casters ? I have 3/4 back mesa 2x12 and a Mesa 4x12. The 4x12 has better bass and I figure that's from being closed. Thoughts ??

I ordered 2 sb25's to drop into one of my Mesa 2x 12's for now. I'll see how I like that and maybe order an unloaded cab if the bug bites me.

Does Tony Rombola use a Nitro or a QR ? He went from Recto to Splawn so that is not a bad idea. Hopefully he uses SB25's. Mine will be here tomorrow.

Pretty sure it was a QR, I could be wrong.
